<3 You Guys Keep up the Great Work! ^_^

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Max-Lanctot/653378742 Max Lanctot

    Btw Great Job Olivia :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/nik666 Nikolai Tzolev

Mike B looks particularly good this time.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kimmie-Miichu-Sørensen/1476391668 Kimmie Miichu Sørensen

im not trying to be rude but dam those 2 are retared it should have 5 so EPIC

    • Josh Rosenvelt

5 for the CGI definitely and presentation. I think a 8-14 year old would rate the content a 5, but vet players will rate it between a 2-3.5 because of what we been used to in wow.

    • Old Ben

Epic is precisely what it isn’t. It’s basically a clone of any 5-minute fight sequence from a Jackie Chan movie. Exciting, well edited, well choreographed, but ultimately pretty shallow. It’s very obvious that they’re aiming it at young children.

Watch the WotLK trailer. Now _that_ is epic.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Yeah, I would not call it epic.  But, it sets the story as to why the Horde and Alliance are trying to win the Pandarens to their side.

With cross-realm zones, the Horde and Alliance will be fighting over:
Pandaren Quest givers (shared between the horde and alliance)
        Pandaren Quest Hubs (shared)
        World bosses
Raid summoning stones (you can no longer group summon as a guild perk.)
The capital temples, which are poorly guarded, which contain multiple entrances, hallways, stairways and rooms.
And, you can knock flying players off their mounts.
The alliance are not going to forget what happened to Theramore (Jaina is pissed)
The Horde need to finish what they started.

        “What is worth fighting over.”

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

on panda pic fix upper left corner, remove background from between staff stings. Imo cinematic is kinda meh… my fav is still classic and wotlk.

  • Josh Rosenvelt

Another great episode guys, good humour :)

  • Old Ben

The Horde and the Alliance are going to team up against the pandas and then, “to protect family and bring harmony”, the pandas are going to split into two different factions and fight each other.

It makes perfect sense, if you look at it the right way.

The “right way” here being that whoever made the trailer apparently had no idea what MoP is going to be about.

Very well executed animation, though, as always.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Longtut Sharmake Mohamed

ya olivia is a good mix, where is baka! he needs to share his thoughts about the cinematic!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nae-Bodee/100002134184112 Nae Bodee

Good show, I was kinda a little skeptical at Olivia filling in for Mike B. But turned out much better than I expected.

  • Ravenstorm

She has fairy lights on her head! Her humor and style are glorious. She must stay. She is the fourth box filled for the Legendary GBTVTeam.

It has comedy because KUNG FU PANDA! Waaaoooooooooeeiaah

  • http://www.facebook.com/nllaursen Nick Lykke Laursen

What or which question(s) was/were left out?

  • Sharuko

You guys read too much into the cinematic.  If you watch the cinematics in beta you would know that the war and tensions escalate after they get to Pandaria to a basically all out war.  Horde and Alliance aren’t going to work together.

  • Eibby

with mike b leaving the show and lore kinda losing interest , will be nice to replace the slackers with presenters that enjoy wow or at the very least actually play it….. good job Olivia.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Robbert-de-Wilde/1806039882 Robbert de Wilde

      Mike B was/is on vacation.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

MikeB seem to have gotten over his hurt that Mist of Pandaria is not free.

Not sure about Lore, he still seem to be really burned out.  The first couple of raids should help him decide.

  • Headdie

I think they missed the point on the end of the cinematic. To me, it’s meant to emphasize that the pandarens start as a neutral race, not knowing which side to join(Ally or Horde), especially with the final words spoken in the trailer.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

More like the Pandarens are independent.  So, instead of staying a neutral faction, individual Pandarens can choose sides.  That is why you can have Pandarens in both the Horde and Alliance. You will also have NPC Pandarens alligned with the Horde or Alliance.

  • http://twitter.com/thereverendpuck Reverend Puck

I completely disagree, this cinematic does exactly what the expansion’s opening is about.  The starting quests to send us to Pandaria are all about the Alliance/Horde war.  Once getting to Pandaria, we’re going to learn about that war is secondary to what’s going on in Pandaria.  However, as the expansion progresses it’ll get back to that war since we know of the final raid.  So the future patches and their trailers will be darker and aggressive.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jason.jenkins.73 Jason Jenkins

when the technical diffculties slide poped up i thought gary was trolling josh :P

  • http://www.facebook.com/brewmaster.wansu Brewmaster Wansu

I think the point was that Chen wanted to break up the fight to keep the Sha from appearing. A “You’re not gonna fight on my lawn”

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Yep, that would also explain the mirth and humor he was displaying, trying to keep the Sha away.

  • Thomas Philp

The guy with the perm. you are not funny.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Filip-Buhov/1379207683 Filip Buhov

“d3 is still in beta” , that’s sooo true

  • Chiggz

Maybe the mist is supposed to represent the Sha, and Chen showing up is supposed to represent the fighting off the sha so the cinematic looks lighter in the end

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Milèd-Hammoud/100000268114142 Milèd Hammoud

Is it just me being WoW nerd or does Olivia kind of look like Jaina Proudmoore? :D
    Anyway great job Olivia <3

  • http://twitter.com/AndyMLC Andrew Caballes

I think the opening cinematic was just great. Certainly not perfect, but it was fun to watch and perhaps that what Blizzard was trying to convey. If the expansion is as fun as the cinematic, then I will be happy.

As for 5.0 hitting when GW2 releases, it really isn’t unexpected and it does make sense that Blizzard would just put it out there to, if nothing else, maintain visibility. Granted, it won’t affect me personally. I will be playing GW2 on early access and won’t have time to play either game on the 28th anyway.

  • Morturion

I’m never going to play WoW anymore (no time to grind gear, and you need gear to do anything interesting) but if Blizz would make a WoW movie like their expansion trailers, I’d totally watch it.

    • Old Ben

Except it takes them one year to make a 3-minute movie…

  • http://twitter.com/Zedris Zedris

what i saw from that cinematic is that the horde and alliance are about to destroy them selves in the war and then in the end the pandas are there to stop the fighting or unite them against a common enemy towards the end again. maybe thats why they left it so vague and bright

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/BFPLPQIAEG7XCBYN65LGTMSPY4 Taras Kravchuk

ya its like “you started this mass you better fucking fix it”

      • Old Ben

        > you started this mass you better fucking fix it

That’s what I always tell our local priest.

  • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Hmm, where did the title “Kung Fu Panda” come from, did any of the hosts use the term “Kung Fu Panda.”

I was half expecting the title to be Pandas, Butterflies and Warlocks.  From Lore’s reference.

    • http://twitter.com/Luke_Malcolm Luke Malcolm

Ya that name was much better

    • Old Ben

      > Hmm, where did the title “Kung Fu Panda” come from

The rest of the title might give a clue:

“Kung Fu Panda – Mists Of Pandaria Launch Trailer”

A launch trailer that shows, you know… a panda doing kung fu (*).

I agree it’s a bit redundant (there’s already a separate article about the trailer), but if you really need to ask “where did it come from”, you probably didn’t read the full title or watch the start of the episode.

(*) Actually, the martial art should be called “wushu”. “Kung fu” is just “something that requires time, work and patience”. It’s kind of the Chinese word for “grind”, ironically enough.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Exactly my point, there was a Pandaren Brewmaster Monk (tank) showed during cinematic opening of World of Warcraft: Mist of Pandaria.

No Kung Fu Panda, no launch tailer. Did the game launch, dont you need a game  launch to have a launch trailer?  Where was the Kung Fu Panda?  I couldn’t even find Kung Fu Panda on Netfliex (btw, Netflix doesn’t have a contract for Disney films).   Maybe this whole Kung Fu Panda Launch Trailer is on the missing 5 mins of video.   Hmmm, Gary what happened during the missing five minutes?

        • Old Ben

          > dont you need a game launch to have a launch trailer?

No, just as you don’t need a movie to premiere to start showing its trailer. In fact, the point of trailers is to build hype for the movie (or game, etc.).

          > Where was the Kung Fu Panda?

At the start of this Legendary episode. Something wrong with your player?

          • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Just rewatched Legendary, missed the reference to Jack Black at the beginning.  Wasn’t aware there was a Tenacious D song in the opening cinematic for World of Warcraft: Mist of Pandaria.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/BFPLPQIAEG7XCBYN65LGTMSPY4 Taras Kravchuk

the trailer should have been accompanied by this music

  • http://twitter.com/cr4zycru Cruc

I said it during Guild Cast and Josh basically said it again… a 6 GB download across all WoW players on the Launch Day of GW2 is going to basically screw WoW over because it will be down ALL DAY. So many things will break like every major patch and the servers will go through 24 hours of extended maintenance in which every single WoW player who is interested in GW2 will be playing GW2 because like Gary has said 100 times…its F2P so play both…and since its Free and new it will be what everyone will be doing.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

The download occurred last week. So the 6GB patch is already on your computer.   Figure the patch prep will be Tuesday, with the patch launch a week later.

Personally, I think they should launch the patch on Tuesday the 21st with the class changes and then launch the Threramore invasion a week later on the 28th.

    • joe stallion

A lot of players cannot go back to WOW or WOW clone once they tried GW2.
Some have GW2 drawbacks after BWE

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ian-Smith/100000531128393 Ian Smith

I really like hearing the after show chat, in this show and the others here.  It’s interesting to hear and see some of the inner workings of Gamebreaker.TV and Gary’s thoughts on how to improve and edit the shows.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/BFPLPQIAEG7XCBYN65LGTMSPY4 Taras Kravchuk

    5 out of 5 pandas

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/BFPLPQIAEG7XCBYN65LGTMSPY4 Taras Kravchuk

i think the cinematic was perfect i mean i hate the direction the game is going but the way they are going about is top notch i think the cinematic is a perfect representation of wow current situation it starts of with a dark somber tone ships fighting flags falling fog every where horde and alliance fighting more attune to what the expansion and this game general has been like for the past 8 years then the panda comes out and the tone becomes allot more lighter the smirking panda the “WTF” look on the orc and humans face  the panda adjusting the hammer with his staff the alliance and horde joining up its captions what this expansion is about perfectly its not about a big evil that will destroy azeroth if we do not stop it its more about we spent  last 8 years fighting big bads now we are going to take a break and get back to our roots my favorite part of the cinematic is when the panda slams the ground with his staff and all the fog goes away and and this vast beautiful land is revealed

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=21003660 Keith William Gretton

Yay I missed the live show, but still got the aftershow WIN!

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.beets.5 Michael Beets

I have to disagree with josh about at the end a fleet of ships should be coming towards Pandaria. Remember, this trailer is an introduction to Pandaria. Neither the Horde nor Alliance knew the island was there. how would there be a fleet of ships coming to an island that no one knew existed? as for them teaming up. it makes sense. . . you cant beat the panda solo, so team up with the enemy of your enemy so you two can go back to killing one another. Or of course you can both just get the hell beat out of you cause your are too cool to team up. Its just survival instincts. Also with the Sha. They are trapped and asleep. they arent going to be released after one minor scuffle between two soldiers. . . However, what would have been nice is if at the end of the video, we see the Sha STARTING to stir from their sleep after the two soldiers fight. Overall, I think the comedic relief is timed perfectly. We know the Pandas are going to be lighthearted and goofy, but MoP as a whole is still going to be serious and dark. I feel that we will STILL see this conflict in the future patch videos and of course the game itself, so its nice to have this trailer have a little bit of everything. 4.5/5 panda heads!

    • Hatschi1337

to me this feels more of an Introduction of the Monk rather than of MOP as a whole…
My Impression is that the Vid has a lot of Taoist – Yin Yang Fell to it:

The Horde – Alliance Conflict starting with the Ships and going to 1v1 as Opposing but Interdependent Forces .
The Progression from Dark and Desaturated to Light and Colorful.
Serious Combat Action and Comedic Relief.

And, at the same Time, Framing and being at the Center of all this, the Pandaren Monk, that effectively Ends the Confrontation and giving the Opponents Pause to Consider their most basic, common Goal which is Survival.
Only to in the End divide the 2, stand down himself and revealing what lies before them.

Add to that the Speech about Why / for what do we fight, the Pandaren Stance on Harmony ( and by what we know the Sha being the Antithesis of that) and you “kinda” have a Yin Yang Deffinition.

As it is it kinda lacks Substance on what MOP is about, but it sets the tone for the Beginning of this Expansion to be a Reset and Rethink Point in the Games Evolution.
Previous Expansions always where about the big, looming Threats to all of Azeroth, that didnt care about Factions.
To do this as the First Step in MOP is, imho, a close to Genius move by Blizz… at least Lorewise.
And coming back to the Vid it leaves lots of Room to Play for Upcoming Content-Patches.

please just stop with the only kids care garbage. If you don’t like anthropomorphic creatures in your games go play counter strike. Better yet, if you have nothing constructive to say then just say nothing.

  • Josh Rosenvelt

GW2 my friends, I really hope arenanet have the server capacity for the influx of players they going to be getting.

    • Sharuko

And I hope they are ready for mergers 2 months after release.

      • Eibby

        Rift,Star wars,guild wars2  i foresee arena-net layoffs in 6-8 weeks

  • http://twitter.com/Hoigwai Hoigwai

To comment about why there was no over arching bad guy showing up right away. The Sha are a result of the conflict of the horde and alliance being there. This showed them just arriving and the results of them bringing their lack of balance to pandaria.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Philip-Kappe/100000264050711 Philip Kappe

Olivia nailed it. They want to wait to reveal the rest. It’s a OPENING cinematic, you cant show the conflict start, thats what the game is for. Bunch of freakin whiners.

    • Old Ben

      > you cant show the conflict start, thats what the game is for

That’s like saying they can’t show Sindragosa in the WoTLK trailer or they can’t show Illidan in TBC’s trailer.

They could, and did, and it was epic.

This is like a CGI version of a scene from any random Jackie Chan movie, and gives a completely wrong idea of what MoP is about (a human and an orc teaming up – the eternal enemies that Warcraft was built on – and still losing against a panda… /sigh ).

      • Sharuko

Love how you left out the Vanilla WoW trailer.  Nice job of hiding the facts.

  • German Lopez

Man. That intro did not work at all.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kieran.taylor.568 Kieran Taylor

Dam.. No Netflix this week, I forgot the link to the 30 day trial !! :(

  • http://twitter.com/QuietNine Quiet

if the numerous injections of disney humor into blizzards opening cinematic dont convince the doubters that this expansion is targeted at children, then the announcement that jack black is doing the promotional work should be the nail in the coffin.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

What annoucement that Jack Black is doing promotional work for Blizzard?

    • http://twitter.com/Malkline Malkline

Its targeted at the far east mate…

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/Q323LZHG6N6RXWYHCJDXVVX654 Zaronis

Yay, the fourth corner isn’t Arthas anymore.

  • http://twitter.com/Sidenorna Sidenorna

Worst opening cinematic ever. Orcs, humans, pandas only? And where is the war?And the whole “monks” being better fighters than say warriors, or rogues is one the biggest reason for me to stop playing. Monks are by far the worst class in just about any game they have made.

  • http://gameldar.posterous.com Gameldar

Garry – Olivia is in the UK not Australia … if she was down here she’d have been at a much nicer time for her (11am or later)! But it was nice to have her on!

Also they had to announce the main 5.0.4 patch (and they always do pre-announce the main patches) – because it marks the end of the PvP season – so they have to give at least 2 weeks warning. Interestingly the system changes patch for Cataclysm was even earlier (almost 2 months). System changes for Wrath were a month prior too. So the date isn’t necessarily out of whack from what they normally do. Now – did they line it up – yes most likely. In terms of draws – we haven’t seen how much there is to do for the Theramore event have we? That for me is the most likely thing that’ll get me back in playing just to see that and I’ll be doing some prep (redoing my UI and stacking my 25 quests) for release of MoP.

However competitive PvP players that are wanting to playing from GW2 will rejoice because it means they can finish up the season for their titles/mounts and then go play GW2!

    • http://twitter.com/Malkline Malkline

Actually, that isn’t fully correct. They have in the past held up seasons. Wrath to cata was a very good example, it was 2 months late if i can remember correctly…

      • http://gameldar.posterous.com Gameldar

The _beginning_ of the season has been held up – yes. But the last season of each expansion has always ended with the systems content patches prior to the actual expansion release.

        • http://twitter.com/Malkline Malkline

I love how your argument pretty much verifies that they make their own seasons up regardless of any real calendar.

  • http://twitter.com/Malkline Malkline

Its the worst blizzard cinematic for the following… It doesnt set a scene for the expansion at all. It has no real narrative other than pandas are cool (which they ain’t). The best was wrath because it set the scene for the rest of the expansion and set an narrative. However this? Most people are like look at the shiny textures, aint it nice. It was great 3+ years ago, but no longer.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/KEZVTITPXJ5K55O2HXR4D5K4XE steve

Ummm I’m not the smartest person when it comes to math but 21 mil to 32 mil is not a 55% increase. Just sayin

    • Christopher Parker

      you’re right, it’s a 62% increase

  • Draugmahl

It’s crazy to me that people who have played this game like 8 years don’t realize that with the launch of each expansion, the timeline of main game is moved forward to compensate for the additions and changes to the game. Granted, Outlands didn’t see any love and I am sure by MoP release Northrend is going to feel pretty outdated, but still. Certainly after Cata there is no “Vanilla” as the entire continent has been altered…

  • Christopher Parker

I really don’t get why people are whining as much as they are about this. The cinematic is amazing, from the graphics used to the implied meaning behind the fighting and spoken words. So what if it doesn’t show the coming war between horde and alliance! So what if it has a bit of humor twisted into the fighting! The expansion’s story-line begins with this cinematic, if you’re 85 at least, and goes from there. Yeah, they didn’t have a peek at an end-boss, because there isn’t any (I don’t count Garrosh as an end boss…he’s just a brat trying to prove himself). Instead, they chose to point out the surprise of both the horde and alliance in finding what they, themselves, only knew as a legend lost in mist.

Not sure if this has been said, but RE: Horde vs. Alliance issue, it’s helpful to note that Chen Stormstout is a Hero of the Horde. Even though Chen is fighting both, he is Horde-centric
