Just before the show, Blizzard presented its fourth quarter earnings call, and said absolutely nothing new. OK, maybe “absolutely” is a bit strong, but the news coming out of call was no real surprise to anyone. For starters, subscription base for World of Warcraft sits nearly where it was last quarter — only a 100k drop from 10.3 million to 10.2 million. Panelist Mike B expected the numbers to drop more, especially since, as President Michael Morhaime put it, “our biggest competitor launched in December.” However, December is generally a big month for WoW anyway, and it’s not the 800k loss we heard a one or two calls ago. Does that mean WoW‘s future is still bright?
World of Warcraft tops the charts as the biggest MMO in history. Gary Gannon has gathered the best in the industry to discuss this wildly popular game: Mike B aka Fony from the BFF Report and Josh Allen from the Weekly Marmot. This week, all of your earnings call questions have been answered, and the panel speculates what this can mean for the up-coming expansion Mists of Pandaria. For the latest on everything hitting the World of Warcraft, you must watch Legendary!
