Chatroom also loves you Gary ♥!

You won’t see race remodels during all of MoP.  Blizzard is extremely good at promising these things, and then dragging them out forever.  Things like the dance studio.  It might happen but won’t happen during MoP.

    • Nick Ratcliffe

Boy, I can’t wait to see my 8-bit character model in the beautiful Pandaria landscapes.

  • Nick Ratcliffe

And THIS is why I’m a monthly donator.  Keep on keepin’ on, gentlemen.

  • MMO_Doubter

THAT is not a panda. It is a girl in a furry costume.

  • H S

WoW is going to show Swtor how it’s done, and almost with one hand tied behind it’s back, they will do it with Panda’s.  Next years headline “Kung Fu Panda pwns Darthlagger”

Oh and guys, if you really wanted to date furry women, you missed the boat, the 70′s are over.

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

each helloween event there was huge war in scarlet :D that was amazing, then LFG drops – meh… everyone wants story now, wow is too old to comptete with swtor storytelling, wow is too old to get dynamic events… wow is old dog… tbh i don’t really think i will ever go back to wow.
Imo this whole sha and things are kinda lame… you defeat evil energy with fighting, it’s like war for peace… The best story was in LK expansion. Many changes looks like “borrowed” from guild wars 2.
GW2 is the place to go.

I really wish these would be posted in a more timely fashion. I can never make the live cast. They used to past them the next day almost like clockwork. Now we have had to wait 2 and even 3 days my “Legendary” fix. I love you guys, have donated and would just like you fellers to get back to your original “Have live cast, post next day” formula.

    • Bryan Woolsey

This particular episode they had some problems with the studio’s internet, so there was actually no live cast. The show was also going to be with Gary, but obviously Gary was unable to do it the next day.

Anyway, they recorded offline and then uploaded the next day. Plus if you have ever tried to render and upload a 2+ hour video, it isn’t exactly a speedy process.

  • http://twitter.com/Hoigwai Hoigwai

At least you guys could finally get this in the can.

  • Ordrinth

I was under the impression you only used the charm in LFR raids which work different (loot wise) then Normal or Heroic raids.

  • Ordrinth

I was under the impression that the charms were only going to be used in the LFR difficulty, not the normal or heroic. So their impact on hardcore raids wouldn’t be that significant.

  • Ordrinth

I was under the impression that the charms would only be used in LFR difficulty, and not nomral or heroic difficulty. So their importance to hardcore raids would be insignificant.

    • http://twitter.com/devolore Josh Allen

Check my interview with Ghostcrawler at Tankspot – he confirmed explicitly that they work in Normal and Heroic.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr the Resto Druid

Can more than one person “play” their charm.  Does the charm affect who gets the loot or does it allow for additional loot (random?) to drop?

      • Kagitaar

People keep reporting what Cory Stockton was saying in his gined up doublespeak of an explanation. Your GC interview was the only one that got that info.

  • jjd966

About the world pvp objectives and the faction imbalance…is that a problem the global servers you talked about in earlier episodes fix. Ex. 500 alliance and 500 horde in PvE 1.

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

wpvp is a state of mind

  • Andreas Phylactou

Hi guys, great show once again.
So it seems like the loot system in LFR is going to be exactly the same system that SWTOR went with for raiding. In SWTOR Operations (raids) when you kill a boss and you loot him, the loot window opens up with the items he dropped and if your character’s name is assigned to the item…then you won it. So Chest item 1 went to Player A, Feet item 2 went to Player B and Weapon item 3 went to Player 3. This was a great system that was implemented since it eliminated the competition and drama that usually came along with raid loot rolls. And furthermore, the SWTOR system also made it relevant to both the class and spec you were using at the time (just like WoW is planning to do). So I, as a Sith Inquisitor tank, won 2 Sith Inquisitor tanking items within a certain run that I did….fantastic!

However, there is currently a problem with the system in SWTOR so I would like to ask you guys if you think the same problem may arise within WoW too. Here’s the problem: Currently, within SWTOR, you are unable to trade the items that drop within the Operations. So when we ran our Operation, we had actually done it with 2 Sith Inquisitor tanks (myself and another random player). I won 2 items from the run (as I mentioned earlier) and the other tank unfortunately didn’t win anything….it happens. However, I ALREADY HAD BOTH OF THE ITEMS I WON!!! So I was desperately trying to find a way to pass the items over to the other tank since he was actually under-geared and could really use them but unfortunately the system wouldn’t let me.

Now here’s my question: since trading is currently allowed with WoW raids…..do you think that this situation that I described would not arise and be an issue in WoW…..OR….will trading become locked again within the LFR raids and so you will not be able to pass on the items to other players? Allowing trading to take place might ensure that items are distributed fairly in situations where the winners already have the item…….BUT it may also introduce further drama into raiding loot rolls/drops….since people might then start fighting over ‘to whom the item should get traded to’. This new system does eliminate ”needing on an item for a friend” in LFR, since the system will automatically assign drops to people…..but within a 25 man LFR raid….if a caster staff drops and the mage that won it already has it….and there are another 4 mages, 2 priests, 3 druids and 2 warlocks within the group….who gets the item?

So, do you think trading will be locked or open within the WoW LFR loot system?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gavin-Freeman/100001112602978 Gavin Freeman

but that’s there normal raiding? do ppl pug SW:TOR raid much having a system like that for normal and heroic raid for guild run would be bad for guild’s the system works for pug’s but guild run’s the players can figure out who needs the items the most because there working together where in LFR you just there to get loot and the way it works atm is ppl just roll need as long as they can even if they don’t need it by bringing in the same idea they have for SW:TOR but for pug only raids is alot better a idea than gimping your raid comp like they way you made SW:TOR sound :(

      • Andreas Phylactou

Sorry, I should have explained a bit. There are also 3 raid levels in SWTOR too. Normal Mode (equivalent to WoW LFR), Hard Mode (equivalent to WoW Normal) and Nightmare Mode (equivalent to WoW Heroic). The system that I described where the item gets assigned to a player is ONLY within the Normal Mode Operations. This is because…in answer to your question….yes people do pug SWTOR raids for Normal Modes. Hard Mode and Nightmare Mode Operations however have the free roll system….just like normal and heroic raids in WoW….so those are the “raids” that a SWTOR guild would go to.

Basically, introducing this “assign loot” system to Normal Mode operations in SWTOR and LFR raids in WoW (i.e. to their lower tier levels of raiding) assures that there will be no “ninja’ing” of loot during pugs. That’s really good.

However, there are still situations where free trading within that system might be both advantages and detrimental. I’m just not sure if the trading will be locked in the WoW model (just like in SWTOR) or if it will remain open just like it is now. What do you guys think?

        • Andreas Phylactou

Oh, nevermind. Got the answer from the orignal blue post:

“You can’t trade this item, or that would defeat the purpose of removing the social pressure on groups of strangers. If you don’t want the item, you are free to vendor, delete, or disenchant it”.

So locked trading. I think this is probably the best route for Blizzard to take. Yes you may still have the slightly unfair and inconvenient situations that I described arise….but at least that’s a better price to pay than ‘additional raid drama’ or as Blizzard put it “social pressure on groups of strangers”.

Worth waiting a couple more days in order to trade Gary out for Mike

  • http://twitter.com/crusadernero Erik Bjørbæk

Cant wait for MoP to launch! Feels so fresh and new! We are going to travel into a continent that is brand new and unknown, there will be so much to explore and do.

Also the fact that raiding/endless hc dungeon runs wont be the “only” thing to do at max lvl is great. As a wow player since launch of the game, I have experienced it all from noobing around to hardcore raiding 5-7 times a week. Right now im at the “I play when I can and want to” mode. Doing dailys, alts, LFR, guild dungeons, achivs etc.

The things that are coming with MoP makes me even more sure that wow will be the king of mmos for many years to come.

Let me clarify Lore, Mike B and Mike S what Mike S was asking
about the raids. I got it.

He was saying, since they are putting raid
mechanics into normal dungeons, what will they put into raids? even
better mechanics? or just go the lazy route?

Its actually a interesting questions. But we will have to wait for beta to find out.

awesome show you guys … great info :)

  • Revanhavoc

Some people complain that it’s not Gary, some that love that it’s not Gary,
but in the end Mike tries so hard to be exactly like Gary, except for when he
goes off script, the major difference being Gary is funny, and Mike is
    funny-awkward.

Don’t get me wrong I love ‘em both.

Mike S is boots on the ground, understands the medium and the message. He is
at his best in analytical mode.

    Gary turns
the threads of information into a tapestry of broadcasting that breaks down
barriers and breaks the main stream mould. To put it simply, he’s on a whole
    other level.

Obviously he has talents in “finding talent” to supplement his
own, in the forms of our own damn renaissance man Mike B and protégé Mike S and
ya well, there’s Lore…ya. This message has no real purpose and will self destruct in 5 seconds.(God you suck Revan…)awwww…:(

Man this episode was stupid long.  Are you guys gunna have anything to talk about next week?
They’re going to have gear normalized in Challenge Modes like they did in 4.3 Test Realms.
Thank god they didn’t spoil ME3.

    • Kagitaar

I’d be pissed, I’ve barely done anything in ME3 with all the other crap that needs to get done. Now I have MoP beta too, where will I find the time?

  • http://twitter.com/Rin_Lunasong Amy Dooley

I’m so excited for perma-tree back ! Mike S I share your enthusiasm for the new druid glyphs. <3

  • http://twitter.com/dularr the Resto Druid

I think there will be sponsered challenge modes.  Have two or more teams compete in a challenge instance, and the first team to finish their dungeon, wins a sponsered prize.

  • jaymon1579

Still seems hard to believe they would make MoP free, I mean they still charge for realm transfers, faction changes, name changes, race changes, etc. I don’t see them breaking Cata sales records in 24 hrs but if they can get 2 million at say $40 that’s $80 million gross (+ more if you include collectors edition sales). I’m sure stores would get a small profit + some who pickup a copy in a store might buy something else while they’re there. They’ll offer collectors editions for more + digital downloads which I’d imagine are a bit more profitable then shipping regular copies to stores.

Besides need more profit to try & work on new character models right? or is that just too expensive?

    • MMO_Doubter

Clearly, Blizzard has deemed them not cost-effective.

I agree that MoP will not be free. TOO much profit to be had from box sales.

GW2 has shot itself in the foot with the whole gold-for-sale scandal. Every possible successor to WoW has managed to sabotage its potential. Remarkable.

    • Kagitaar

You do realize that any change to the character models will have some outcry, so they want to make them as perfect as they can to avoid that, right?

  • http://justgizzmo.com/ Michael

Damn so many spoilers…. btw Bruce Willis is a ghost!i should note that that spoiler was ruined for me in 50 first dates…. grrr

  • pc11

so the new LFR loot system is basicly SWTORs normal mode operations system :p

  • John Hurry

FREE MOP IF YOU RESUB TO ANNUAL PASS? OR DISCOUNT MAYBE?

for the love of god get Mike S. off legendary! host whatever else he wants but not leg. J/k but seriously ease off bud, you control the spotlight TOO much. You give one person the chance to respond then u cut off the other to carry on yur tangent. just need to give the other person chance to speek before you do or before u throw another question out. How can you ask questions for future shows ?

  • Elusive Fox

    That panda was hawt.

  • Elusive Fox

Also for your whole pokemon thing, and esports in wow in general (arenas, bgs, etc), what really needs to happen is what has happened to make SC2 very accessable, and that is some form of replay system, as well as a good way to make pre-made matches, not through the automates system and maybe not for rewards, but by gathering a group of players together and playing.  Until that can happen and happen easily, wow esports is dead.

  • http://www.facebook.com/neal.reagan Neal Reagan

I think they should make two factions within the factions, Like in BC between the scryers and (aldors?) Don’t remember what the second faction was called. But make that, seperate the horde and alliance into these two factions, and give them both capital cities, and have each player choose between the two at level cap. Then provide strife between the two and have alliance members fighting each other, and horde members fighting each other. That should fix most of the faction imbalances. Offer different things specific to each faction. Just an idea. kthxbai…
