Awesome show this week, aside from all the achievement talk, but that’s Blizz’s fault for picking a lame Q&A subject (some questions were good, some were not-so-good, all the answers were obvious but ludicrous, does that make sense?)

Can’t wait for the afterparty footage to go up. KEEP IT UP, GB.TV! YOU’LL SEE MY DONATION ONCE I’M BACK TO WORK!!

oh wow Gary, the question about gold circulation mirroring real world currency was a radical question O_o
haha. interesting and brilliant though though! great show again!

  • Drakethetwisted

    Loving the show.

I’ve got Stood In The Fire on 4 different characters somehow :/

  • Tarl Cook

Actually lore, the main reason i quit the game was because i couldn’t have my achievments on an alt. I was tired of playing the same class for 4 years but i wasn’t going to give up 4 years of effort just to play a different class, because of this i now only play league of legends.

lololol… if Blizz removed monetary drops and monetary quest rewards they would have to start sending out welfare checks each month to every player. :-)

To in-game mailboxes, of course.. :-p

Love the show and donations are on it’s way

Perhaps you can use achievement points on say mounts or vanity pets. Things that are nice, but not necessary. I mean a lot of achievement junkies are also mount collectors and will want to spend points on getting more mounts. There’s an achievement to kill a whale shark in Vashj’ir and the thing doesn’t even drop loot. You have to inconvenience a lot of people to kill it and most players don’t even realise the only way to kill it is to kite it constantly. I mean that’s an example of one of those achievements that could be considered “not fun.” I personally enjoyed trying to kill it.

I’m with Mike on the whole “when it’s gone, it’s gone.” If you tell me there’s 0.2% drop chance from a raid I can’t solo part of me wants it and part of me goes… well it’s so impossible to get and even if it does drop everyone’s fighting over it. So if I go with the same group of 10 people every time that’s a then 0.02% drop chance (0.2% / 10 people).

Runes of Magic (free to play) implemented a gold selling service. You had to buy your diamonds (which was the currency used in their cash shop/item mall) and after you’ve owned those for 30 days you can then spend it for gold on the auction house. It’s not quick, but if you’re the kind of person who would spend money on gold over a long period of time it is a viable option. But then RoM was properly released in 2008 so it’s still a relatively new game.

    “Mama!” ROFL!
Great show, kind of boring topic. I gotta have that intro song! It’s amazing.

I think the achievement “points” could be used just to buy like vanity Items. Like tabards, titles, and pets, I mean people are asking for it why not just do it. Those items have no impact on your gameplay. Hell make one title be like “IareLore, He that has no life”, that costs like 5k achievement points. they don’t have to like “spend” the points just make it like the rep system. Where if you get a certain number of points these items become “purchasable”.

  • Xentozz

    oh god…. the end. I lol’d, i lol’d so hard!

    • TheGacko

I would love more achievements for interesting things. Like the other day I found a fragment on the first try at a dig site.. freakin sweet.

      • Holymoly

Btw, when are you moving out of your living room and back to the studio ?

        • Kasey

The game economy is a closed system. Even the gold sellers have to do something in the game to earn the money. If Blizzard began selling gold, they would just create it out of thin air. Rampant inflation follows… much worse than what the 3rd party gold sellers cause.

Gold and sellers alike should be banned by law from ever using a computer again. Repeat offender gold buyers should be likewise banned.

There is no ‘point’ to achievement points. They are idiot points.

I refused to do achievements because those points are just a scam.

Play the real world currency game “The Stock Market”

  • JohnnyD

Since Achievements have been implemented I’ve always cared more about those than I cared about item progression. To me items and achievements both are identical in the way they reward ‘doing stuff’ in the game. However, with every new content patch the old batch of items becomes more or less useless as we all strive for upgrades. Achievements however will always count towards your maximum score. Following this reasoning I feel that Blizzard should actually put more effort into achievements than right now, because it seems way out of balance compared to items.

  • Natcap

Guys, when it comes to the limited time mounts…the answer is obvious.

Blizz: Amani War Bear is now available at the Blizzard Store!
    Us: How much??
    Blizz: $25!

    • lyck

For only 325 dollas you get the Amani war bear and a tikket to Blizzcom now availble at the blizzard store.

  • eDky

As I know “Cross MMO items” thing will be in Guild Wars 2 (for the original GW players), so that’s great idea (imo).

  • Teckerke

Well actually Blizz can do that gold selling very controlled while the prices of the AH on each thing won’t rocket sky high.

IF they just do it one day each month or each 3 months one gold sell day or 2 hours on a specific day (similar to call to arms)

call it: call to gold (or something silly like that)

i think that would be fair to all players that have and haven’t a job or older and younger players ….
Just a tought to rly counterattack that goldselling now trought the calendar.
Bcos that is more annoying than the spam in trade, addons could take the spam out, but not from the calendar

Great show guys. Lore, buddy, GBTV. is getting bigger. Time for a new camera, maybe? Keep up the great work

  • Dinarium

’bout achievemnt points and the way to spend them.
I think like, why not implement a shop where you can buy mounts or non-combat pets or titles depending on your amount of achievements points.(like if you have like 1000 you can buy a purple bunny or stuff) Tht won’t make you “more powerful”, but will be fun for those who do not raid a lot and thus cannot get their supermegaawesome proto drake.
What they have to do for it is just create a bunch of new mounts OR repaint textures of old ones(like amani warbear). The only hard thing is to create a shop which depends on you ap. But they totally can do it.

  • http://MMOFringe.com MMO_D

The way you stop gold-selling is to disable trading between characters. However, many players would consider that cure worse than the disease.

I have been a proponent of a closed economy for several years. I’d like to see it tried. You could have it as a ‘variant’ server type.

  • Nirawen

    On the subject of taunts in PvP, one of the things Warhammer got right was the way they tackled taunts;

When you taunt someone it gives them a debuff that makes them do xx% less damage to anyone other than the tauner, so you can still attack the healer but you have to make the decision of whether to deal with the damage debuff or go for full damage on the tank / taunter.

I just think it was a good aproach to giving tanks more of a role in PvP, something that WoW really misses.

  • Allure

it’s not his camera, it’s his internet connection.

  • http://MMOFringe.com MMO_D

Well it was better than nothing, but they should have gone the alternate way and made tanks the primary CC classes, instead.

  • Kasey

Last part should read: Gold sellers should be…
