Mobile Hack and Slash Action Is In the Cards
Spell Sword is a mobile hack and slash platformer by Everplay. It’s available for free on both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store, with in-app purchases available.
In Spell Sword, you’ll hack and slash your way through several waves of enemies while grabbing powerups and earning rewards that can be spent on in-game items and upgrades. Each level is fairly short, as is the norm for many mobile titles, allowing for short play sessions. The lighthearted, retro feel will be appealing to many players, and the mobile hack and slash action promises hours of “just one more” levels of addiction. But is Spell Sword everything you’re looking for in a mobile platformer? Or does it just end up feeling like a hack?

ABOUT THE FIVE FINGER RATING SYSTEM:
At the end of my time with each game I will rate it on a scale of one to five fingers based on my initial experiences. This is emphatically NOT to be taken as a review score, merely a rating of my initial experiences with the game and the likelihood that I will play it again in the future.
5 fingers = This game is awesome! I will definitely play it again, even in cases where I could be playing something on my PC or console.
4 fingers = This game is awesome… for a mobile title. It may not stack up to PC or console games, but it’s definitely worth keeping on my phone for future play.
3 fingers = The game is alright. There’s nothing glaringly bad about it, but it’s not really hooking me either. I might poke at it again in the future.
2 fingers = Something about this game is just not right. I didn’t particularly enjoy my initial time with it and I am unlikely to play it again.
1 finger = F*** this game.
