Having played the Guild Wars 2 demo, I don’t think I can say whether or not it’s the best MMO in history. It’s an MMO, however that’s taking a different route that most other MMOs. I mean ToR obviously copied WoW’s design for the MMO bit, in spite of having a lovely Bioware storyline.

Guild Wars 2 goes its own way. Some people are going to love that and some people are going to hate it. Many won’t even give it a chance, because it IS different. Personally, any game that makes exploring more rewarding and fun is my type of game. Guild Wars 2 does that, instead of leading you around by the nose.

Also, I’m kind of disappointed by Lary’s constant defending of blatantly odd or questionable decisions. I’m all for different opinions, but not when they are blindly stated without any real thought. It just seems like he’s looking for excuses to spin things in a positive light rather than staying with his feet on the ground.

All the stuff the devs talk about developing just seems like stuff the game should have launched with. I understand that an MMO is ever-evolving but the stuff they claim they are working on adding is stuff that people wanted from the beginning, stuff that would have retained a lot more people. On average, once an MMO player leaves said MMO, they don’t usually come back- ever. I know this is the first Bioware has produced, but they have plenty of experienced developers AND plenty of other MMOs they could have looked at. Either way, I’m glad I’m no longer subscribed and hope that the next Star Wars MMO is handled much better and much more responsibly.

Still Subbed.
Have not logged in Since March 22nd, When I got My beta Invite to Firefall.
Why?
Because, after 61/2 Years of WOW, I saw no reason to repeat the same type of game with different bells and whistles.
It’s time for game developers to stop creating games that please the moneylenders, and to go back to making games the way they Feel they should be made.
My heart goes out to all of the creative people that got their Ideas overruled by accountants.

I suspect some People Post Scathing Criticisms of Games in the Vain Hope that Someone from that Company will Read it and do something about it.

Truth is, most bad games are not necessarily the designer’s faults, it’s the Bean-Counters that have never played a game in their lives.

And the fact is, most Bean-Counters are so insulated from reality, that they wouldn’t know the truth if it was tattoo’d on their foreheads.

They are to busy trying to please the shareholders and the banks.

There isn’t anything standard about losing half your player base in such a short amount of time. Remember, we’re going from 2.4 million copies sold to 1.3 million current subscribers. That 1.3 number includes everyone still active as a result of this free month as well. If not for that free month I would not have an active sub to Swtor, so the numbers are skewed even more. Not trying to hate on the game, because I love Star Wars, but after class reworks of 1.2 and lack of rank PvP, I don’t imagine coming back. Well I might once they extend the story, because I absolutely loved the Agent story, but aside from that, meh. I hope they can stabilize at about a million, so they can continue to be profitable enough to pump on content on a consistent basis, but I’m not very optimistic. I hope I’m wrong though.

From what i’ve read, wow has half of their subscribers in Asia, and the rest spread on EU/US.

I was thinking also,that SWTOR just might be the MMO thats loses subscribers at at over the record rate they had got them.Sorry Larry E.
