The Elder Scrolls Online beta signups kicked off with a bang and to celebrate we were treated to a new cinematic trailer!

We also were treated to a new trailer for Starcraft 2′s Heart of the Swarm and a faithful caller asks Mike Schaffnit and Josh Allen if a government run program to trade in guns for games might work.

Damn I wish that guy had been my english teacher in like grade 8 or 9, when my teacher made us read Dracula *shudders*.

It was the only book that I had to read for class that I did not finish (I even finished Waiting for Godot, which by the way, was another glorious waste of my time -_-).
I got half way through that god-forsaken book before I decided to screw it and just ask around for a vague understanding of what happened so I could wing it come test time.

  Okay, so you don’t need violent video games ,,,,,, END OF. A future step is for the government to ban and confiscate your video games.
  
  Sadly, the response to the next step in this argument is, it’s now public policy that violet video games are bad for children. So, why wouldn’t the government ban video games.

    Will never happen. The Culture in the South and Midwest will never allow government to pass an Amendment to end 2nd Amendment Rights. It would need ratification from 3/4 of the states, so that will never happen. They will raise taxes on gun sales to make it more expensive, and limit types of guns, and ammo, to try and squeeze the rights of Americans.ACLU and like groups will never let Video Games get banned either. Sex is more taboo in America than Violence, and the Porn Industry is doing just fine.

I’ve NEVER liked reading in my 20 years. I’ve only read two books outside of school; the two first Harry Potter books. I usually haven’t even finished the books I’ve had to read in school.

But last summer I read the Warcraft book Lord of the Clans and I actually enjoyed reading it. After that I ordered the three Warcraft book archives that include at least a dozen books total.
I haven’t read more yet, because I spend my spare time gaming etc :p

I’m finnish but I (think I) prefer reading in english. IMO finnish sounds weird when talking about World of Warcraft or some other fantasy things.

The TESO vs. HotS trailer is not that easily answered. I think they are both good trailers for the games that they are promoting. Personally, the TESO trailer (like the SWTOR trailers) simply blow anything else out of the water because of the quality and “realism” of the trailer (I had a hard time discerning if it was all CG or if they had living breathing actors on screen at points) are what I enjoy in trailers and games. The HotS trailer looks like something from 6-7 years ago, but it shows in game footage and highlights what players of the game would be interested in. For RPGs (and not just MMOs) I think the TESO type of trailer appeals to those gamers because it gets you into the story, lore, and action, regardless how much of what you see will relate to actual gameplay. For the MOBA or RTS type of player, it seems seeing actual gameplay and mechanics is much more interesting because that is the focus of the game itself.

In terms of a gun trade-in, that would never work in America. Part of the reasons were mentioned by Shaf and Josh, but it runs deeper than that. America is unique in that gun ownership is looked upon as a God-given right (and not just Constitutional right). If you just look at the official NRA facebook page, and the big unofficial one, you’ll see a fanaticism about guns that you don’t find elsewhere in the world (and probably a good synopsis of why not everyone should be allowed to own a gun). Gun ownership is simply too deeply ingrained in parts of American society to make trade-in programs help with the issues that cause things like Sandy Hook and Aurora.

im glad THQ lost the saintsrow franchsie as mean as that may sound but i just hated the way they kind of destroyed the story with saints row 3 just to get more people to play it.

They actually haven’t announced the classes yet for TESO yet.

They did confirm that they exist though.

But from what they have said, it’s like Skyrim. There are going to be skills for using different weapon types, different armor types, different magic types, and different crafting skills.

And you can use all of those skills regardless of what class you are and skill everything up to 100 just like in Skyrim. It’s already been confirmed that you can be mage wearing heavy armor. It’s in.
