The Republic Ep116: PUGS Be Gone?

This week on The Republic, gameplay analyst Jonathan Crow explains why players in Star Wars: The Old Republic spend most of their time in their city… I mean fleet. As well as why pugs have gotten harder to form even with the increase in free-to-play gamers coming in.

If you have  been wondering why the player death to raid boss kill ratio has been steadily dropping, then brace yourself as this has been answered, players get better.

Who knew?

Also, Damion Schubert discuses the lack of a long sought after feature: Chat bubbles. He updates the situation on neutral gear, which if you remember, was suppose to be out at release but was pushed back time and again.

We also have viewer questions ready to be answered and if they are not, then expect to see a Jawa being jettisoned into space.

So, sit back and watch as Gary Gannon, Massively SWTOR columnist Larry Everett, and the original hater from Darth Hater, Justin Lowe, inform you of this week’s SWTOR news!

Gary, the fuck do you get all these awesome modern Jedi vestments? They should sponsor the shows. Seriously.

You all have to address tyhe P2W with all the upgrades for your ship only on the CC Market, and All the Holiday items being on the CC Market too. So no real holiday, and P2W…. this F2P is just getting worse and worse…..

And you got the official definition of P2W from where … because as far as I know, there is no officially accepted definition of the term other than that it’s origins come from describing games like ZT Online.

You call space upgrades on cartel market a pay to win?
Its a solo mini-game, that isnt not even co-op and have no pvp! Against who you will win? If you want to criticize something on this please do it on the all space combat thing pls :D

Blow up the fleet? Add some soul to it? How about they just let boarding parties and attacks and such on the opposite fleets? I mean, people congregate in Org and Stormwind ya, but they’re also attack-able. The fleets aren’t. When I’m on the fleet I never have to fear a smuggler sneaking up on me and catching me unaware. They need to allow the fleets and capital planets to be attacked by the opposite faction. Part of the aspect of “world pvp” is limited by their massive partitioning of all the planets. It’s not “rewards”. I’m sick of hearing people say there’s no reward for world pvp or we need a reward for it. SWG we got nothing for pvp at all. Yet it happened all the time. Player built attack-able cities/bases etc. Attack-able fleets. THESE will bring back world PVP.

You would be surprised on what is planned for the SSSP if the information I received is even remotely close to what they are actually doing (and I suspected they were doing). However, I have been sworn to secrecy until an official announcement is made … if I don’t explode by then.

Every single time I read Larrys title as  Massively SWTOR communist Larry Everett..

The 2 reasons why I’ve spent all my time on the fleet and not in Kaas City are the fleet passes and the Dromund Kaas taxi routes.

quest hubs are so year 2k, all quests should be given to you automatically when you walk upon them. This also encourages exporing.

Go back to GW2 then. Quite a few of us here like and prefer the “traditional” ways of playing an MMO. There’s nothing wrong with either method, which means neither one is better than the other.

Larry my friend.. no offense meant, but do something about your communication. It’s difficult sometimes to follow your idea because you always stutter, repeat words or go back on the idea, and it’s not very pleasant. Please don’t take this as QQ and rather a tiny constructive criticism. It’s never nice to listen to someone who doesn’t know what he wants to say. It would help both you and the show if you find a way to improve your conversational skills and your thought process.

I can’t get it up this week.

I never understand Gary and Mike’s fascination on John Smedley, he made so many empty promises and made countless poor decision.

I really hope BioWare wasn’t banking on their extremely limited free to play model to get more players into pugs. I logged into the free to play and I would never go into a pug with 1 action bar. The ONLY thing the majority of free to play players are going to do is their personal story.
