I have to agree with Justin, I’m enjoying the new operation a bunch.  The look, the mechanics, etc. are all a step above what bioware had done previously.  4 out of 4 disheveled Dallas Dickinson heads from me.

I will definitely come back to the game once it goes FTP. Esp just to level the 2 other classes I didn’t get to 50.

      • dysfxal

Good deal.  I’ve been having a great time during raid down times leveling my alts in wzs exclusively (aside from class quests of course).

When is the actual date the game goes FtP?

          • dysfxal

             I want to say mid-Nov?

Faster patches can only be good for this game. But they really got to come up with some exciting changes instead of just hyping up mediocre content updates and TAKING AWAY things from the players like the cc options with this patch.

The game has a big problem with classes and the talents and the players ability to customize your character through them. I mean when you got talents that give you 1% more health per point, you cant help but wonder whats going on in their heads when coming up with such underwhelming ideas…

I wanted to love this game, I really did, I am a big fan of star wars since I was a kid and I played pretty much any game there is in that universe. I did not expect it to be swg2 but it should have been something other than just an underwhelming wow clone with slightly better graphics but less soul :(

  • dysfxal

I agree with swtor lacking “soul” hzr.  There was just something plastic-y about the first impression I got from it.  However after playing the game for awhile, I have come to find a type of charm to it.  Well hope you give it another go hzr come ftp.

I just have to lolz at james ohlen. If they had content going at a good rate from the start they wouldnt have lost as much as they did. Its just stupid its like oh we stuck this fork into a wall socket and got shocked we have found that sticking a fork into a wall socket was a a bad idea lmao. Seriously never seen such retards in my life. Then to top it off this guy thinks he has the best pvp team and swtor has the most god aweful pos pvp EVER! lolol

they should ask larry if hell buy chat bubbles if there in the store hahaha.

    • rippled

Steady on, PvP is quite fun.

As to the comments to randomized Boss fights. I have been screaming for this forever. As they mention with the internet the way to find out how to fight everything these days, the devs need to have randomized Boss fights. Basically say 5 different types of fights. Yes, this means much more coding and design, but if some Boss fight tatke X amount of time to create then once it is solved and is a boring fight after 10 times, it is counter intuitive to the duration of Raiding. But if now you have 5 different styles to a Boss fight you have increased that amount to 50. Not to mention the repeat times for gear drops. This also creates the interest in guessing what Boss fight you will encounter once the fight starts, then you now have to come up with a plan for that fight instead of planning well before , knowing exactly what to expect from the Boss fight well before the Raid even starts.

Now to content, they need new species, at least 1 per faction per year since they messed up from the start, like WoW, yes I said that words. It is good to release the content they mentioned and we do have 12 more weeks till they need to be where they said they were going to be. BUT WHERE IS THE CHARACTER STORYLINE QUESTS EXPANSION?

How Bioware responds to performance related threads (quoting somebody from TORums):

“But, but! It is your computer, if your drivers are out of date, update them. Or if they are up-to-date roll them back.

Don’t forget flush dns. Or repair/reinstall, both the game and windows. If all that doesn’t work send all kinds of stuff to our head honchos by e-mail, direct to our priority circular file. We’ll get back to you Soon(tm).

PS: post your dxdiag, and anything else you can think of, maybe it will run fine after all that, without anyone having to do anything(the darn memtests should shut you up for a day anyhow.)”

I went through this a few months ago after a post ‘Jesus patch’ hotfix.  My game client would constantly crash.  No other programs/games on my computer would ever crash, just SWTOR.  After trying all suggestions/scanning forums I finally quit out of frustration.

the problem is that doesnt adress poor coding and engine issues. I can play any game you name it oh ultra high just fine but swtor’s engine/coding causes stability issues crashes and worse it isnt always on the users end. Its a pos engine and highly exploitable to. The best example was at best buy the swtor demo that was freezing up and crashing and they ended up rolling it off to the warehouse and putting tsw demo out lol.

At this point i’ll believe it when i see it and not before.

Ya the big issue with the raiding is that raids are so small. We aren’t even that hardcore, and we cleared it in a couple weeks, raiding 2 nights a week. We came back after not playing for almost 2 months, and now we all more or less unsubbed again, and most say they will just not come back again. We were one of the last decent raiding guilds on our server, the game just isn’t great for raiding.

They have tried to say they will move faster patches since THE SECOND PATCH… and they have NOT done so at all…. how can you guys really keep eating the BS from them?

the real question is why didnt they have faster content in the first place? How stupid can they be i mean seriously its like this

james ohlen: we have found that players want content on a timely basis. We are now 8 months later going to do that after getting out important content such as legacy and custom ui and group finder exciting new features!

gabe just now realized the disparity that the rest of us founds months ago in gear lol

Your dealing with very incompetent and stupid people sadly.

I left after ilum my whole goal in swtor was ilum and open world pvp but the engine is just a pos and thier coding makes it worse. My friend said it best why should i pay 180 bucks a year for instanced pvp and all im doing is getting gear to do the same instanced pvp and nothing else. Id rather go to gw2 where its f2p and they have a working open world pvp zone where he can actually control and use the siege weapons unlike swtor where you still cant control the base turrets lol they just shoot on thier own.

The other issue is these carebears still playing the game that make it hard for us “true” fans to get the game when want.

I often wonder what george lucas thinks about this lol. 2 times over now a star wars mmo has gone to shit due to idiot devs…/sigh

Well stated, but I see a couple of problems. First, your main goal seemed to be just to PvP, which seems to lead to your later statement about the carebears. I find this to be a common problem with just about every game I have played over the years.

The developers will come to the table with a specific idea and design in mind. Right from the get go, no matter what idea or design it is, some people will like it, others will love it, and the rest will hate it. All of this comes about based on a person’s playstyle and how they get enjoyment out of games. What is a “true” fan? Is that someone who thinks SWG was the greatest game of all time? Or is it someone who loves the franchise, understood what BW wanted to accomplish with their design (and objectively understood what was feasible and what was hype), and plays and enjoys the game for what it is?

I think a true fan is someone who understands the design of the game and, if they like it, supports it, and if they don’t, finds something else to play that is more to their liking. Unfortunately, in most cases, the latter rarely happens and we end up with players who demand the game to be changed into something it was not designed to be, and thus you end up with the dichotomy of players who enjoy it as is (and wants it to improve along those lines), and those who simply want to make it a different game, instead of finding one that suits them better.
