The lines is one reason I don’t like a lot of the F2P games. They tend to have small amounts of servers, but 10s of thousands of people playing on them, and it leads to events and quests to just be so jammed packed 24-7 that you can sometimes not finish an easy quest for hours. They so dropped the ball AGAIN with this event. It is cool, but ya too many parts you need to do while tons of people are also trying to do it. Griefing was so bad I just stopped doing it, and logged on at like 3am…. where there was still a lot of people, but was doable…

  He doesn’t, that’s why he keeps quiet when discussing specific events but does chime in when he can offer a general statement. That being said Ed’s thoughts and ideas are spot on and I wish some MMO developer would watch The Republic and hire him as a head coordinator.

    I’m sorry i didn’t know I couldn’t watch a show on a page I like cause I enjoy the hosts and like to see if maybe the game I play is getting better. I also watch the WoW show, but I haven’t played that game in a couple years, but I enjoy listening to Lore and others talk about it. Just having people hwo praise or love something be able to comment on things does not make much sense. Having a colab of all walks of life to engage in conversation sure seems like a more interesting forum to me.

        No I was just wondering why they are dragging it out when their Rift show died really fast. i mean I would guess it is popularity. I am sure they get more hits on this show then they did on their old Rift show, but I don’t know for sure. Just seems they are mostly uninterested, heck I think Ed said enough to fill 5 min worth of the over 2 hour show. So it isn’t so much cancel it, I just find it odd they are still going on with it when they ditched the Rift one when their interest seemed about where it is with this game now.

        The Sanctum, yeah miss that show. Seemed to me the Gamebreaker hosts stopped playing the game. Guess the same with the Republic, if Justin and Larry stopped playing, the show might go away.
        
        Trion World seems to go silent on the Rift for months at a time. Not good for a weekly show. I really do enjoy the Rift segments on TWIMMO. Really hoping their subs make a comeback with the new expansion.

      hmm, well i too enjoy following other games and shows that i no longer play. i played WoW for 6 years, from release all the way til cata, it no longer became fun for me so i stopped playing. i do however still follow the game because its a franchise i have grown up with. my first pc game i ever played was warcraft : orcs and humans back in 1994. so i too follow the franchise because i enjoy the lore and story.
      
      however what i dont do, is go to a thread, or a video, or a forum and trash the game. i watch the wow show from time to time but i dont go on there and say “man why are you guys still doing this show, wow lost like 2 million subscribers in cata, it must be bad”
      
      in reality my intial response may have come off a bit shrewd so i apologize if it was offensive in anyway. my point is theres no reason to post and say derogatory things about something. you pulled a complete 180 from you op and your response to mine, so its a little confusing

These lines are a problem, it’s a pity no one has invented a public quest system, or maybe dynamic open world events, or even a way to contribute to a progress bar within an area, without a need for npc or specific object interaction. Well, I can dream can’t I?

Seriously, everyone who knows anything about
mmos knew these mechanism where coming, and solved a lot of open world problems
long before SWTOR was finished, and had already been used in Tabula Rasa and
WAR. Why is Bioware using out dated mechanisms that are objectively inferior? This is one case where I want MMOs to steal from each other, when a problem as been solved, the solution becomes standard in all such products. It was obvious GW2′s systems where the way to go 2 – 3 years before SWTOR came
out, and they still haven’t tried to implement such systems? Is it really that
hard? This isn’t about GW2 being better, this is about the frustration with Bioware’s MMO that started to look dated over a year before it even came out. Its simple competition, one product has all these innovations, and its natural to ask the competitor “what new features are you including?”, cut scenes are an addition, not a solution to a problem.

Thank you for continuing with the Republic shows. I am eager to get back once the F2P model is in place. Although end-game was disappointing, my PvP experience is unmatched. I miss the community on Shien server.

Yes, the game has a lot of casuals who play very little and the small amount of content is enough. Also having casual raiders who actually found the raids hard will keep them longer. I for one am part of the 1% who don’t suck and destroyed the game fast. If it wasn’t for how buggy the content was, I would enjoy farming it more, but after you beat everything, and the content is as bugged as it is, the replay value is very small. So yes, you and other casuals who can’t just eat up content have a lot more yet to do, but having so many months between small content patches, leaves my peers with nothing to do months ago.

  That was it for me too. If the world doesn’t feel alive, then that kills the game for me right there. Nothing else can make up for that. Galaxies world was much more alive then this one. No seriously, it was.

For me “Agile” produced content (quick but buggy) is the best. !IMPORTANT! Only as long as it’s followed up by AT LEAST as much time spent on polishing that content once it’s released.

Transferred to Harbinger (thanx Larry for the transfer tips on the Beacon)

Harbinger was my only choice, apparently…it said all other servers were full…

It’s interesting that Bioware said they’re moving f2p to fall instead of winter. We also know that instead of releasing Makeb, hk-51, the new op, and warzone all at once, they’re doing only one per every 6 weeks. Kind of begs the question, why delay the content they plan on releasing for the year while speeding up the launch of f2p?

It really does sound like a lot of the future content like Makeb that was said to be free to subbers is actually going to cost money. Pretty sure free content for subs is reaching it’s end, 2013 will start the nickle and dime from BW.

I will def play SWTOR when it goes F2P, still had 2 other classes I needed to level, levelling experience was still the best of any mmo but linear progress (TBC Style) with more content would of been better for endgame.

  Well they’d need a time machine because the biggest thing Ed’s said consistently about the game is that it launched too soon as a minimum-viable product without competitive features or nearly enough end-game.

In the P2W items if they are limiting the Fp to 1 or 2 per week, FPs re the easiest way of getting blue and blue modded gear. Either you pay for the sub to be able to gind thee FPs or go to the cash shop and buy the gear for the 1-49 lvl. Seams a good business model it time vs cash.

You know, hindsight is 20/20 but looking back through videos and old comments, its no wonder there were so many doubters and haters pre launch…more than Ive ever seen for any AAA MMO launch.

If the Star Wars community hadnt been so rabidly desperate for anything Star Wars, this game may have never gotten off the ground. Years and years of development and so much feels either tacked on or half baked ( not the good kind of baked either).

I cry quietly at night about thia games failings.
