    To little to late

’Too little, too late.’  That’s what you mean.  Troll like you mean it.

Strip away the Starwars from this game, and we wouldn’t even be talking about it. Fact is it is an average MMO. Even the talking and choice making was done before. Maybe not to the extent, but it didn’t make this a better MMO anyways. MMORPG is all about the game play, and even saying, “Well it has dialog and cut scenes,” Is like when people say, “Well Tebow is a nice guy.” Yeah it has nice additions to the MMO scene, but at its core it is an average MMO at best.

They need to fix the game first.

    • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

I agree. For me it was not so much that there was not enough. I know new games will be a slow start, they all are. But when nearly all content is bugged so bad it ruins it, then it makes the small amount useless, and that is really where this game dropped the ball. Before I would come back I would have to know that the content was a lot less buggy.

Star wars was a cool game until i hit max lvl, then it was a struggle to run anything.  Now Guild Wars 2 is coming out and i have no interest in returning, even if they improve things, its to late.

I’ll likely play a bit, on and off, once it goes free to play. I played in a few  of the prerelease betas and was…less than impressed, so frankly I saw this coming a mile away, as the saying goes. I’m sure this will be an alright little diversion once it’s free, but it was never worth a subscription fee.

  • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

Larry is soooooo trying to hold on to this game lol, it is getting more and more sad every week. Not that some peopel might love the game, and that is fine, but he argues for the game even when it is obvious there are issues.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1260066056 Steven Diaz

Yeah, it gets annoying after a while.  He’s not doing the game any favors by trying to justify all of the flaws.

  • http://twitter.com/Nathiest Nathiest

I’ll reinstall. play for about a couple of weeks. and then.. I duno?..

  • Bestow

I’ve never seen such sympathy/denial shown for any other title as much as I have seen these folk give SWTOR.
Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.

    • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

I agree. I think some is if this game really dies some of em will lose their current jobs. I know 2 of em run SW sites, so that’s a lose in the wallet. Also some are just fanboys. That’s why I love Ed. He never just fanboys any game he plays, he tells it like it is.

      • http://twitter.com/sithbear73 Trevor Martinson

So…you’re a fanoboi, gushing over everything Ed says?

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1260066056 Steven Diaz

How does that make any sense?  Trevor, you’re quickly becoming the new Gamebreaker troll.  You’re taking over for Shaluko apparently.

    • Key Foster

      Sad but true.

  • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

The readycheck issue is actually the whole game in a nutshell. A company that should never ever had made an MMO, but thinks they can. And they failed.

    • http://twitter.com/sithbear73 Trevor Martinson

I like how the trolls seem to frequent a channel just troll and get their kicks, without any knowledge or actual understanding. Bioware made a MMO, didn’t think they could, they did. Its out right now. There is a difference between thinking and doing. Thinking a company can make an MMO would be like the Stargate game that was canceled, as opposed to, let’s say Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is out. Its real.  Now, whether a person thinks its good or not, is a matter of opinion. You, obviously, do not care for the game, I can respect your point of view on that.

As for the whole “thinks they can make a game”, I can hardly wait to play your game!

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1260066056 Steven Diaz

So because David doesn’t make MMOs he can’t criticize?  You attack his opinion yet say you respect it at the same time……

After Gary mentioned putting the space in a browser, I would actually play it that way. Space isn’t terrible, but it’s not suitable for an MMO experience, however if they did introduce free roaming/sim space and had an option for people to play the on rails missions from the browser or even the ouya, I think it would be pretty amazing.

Although the only way I would return to SWTOR is for them to introduce some sandbox elements and redesign planets or make the new planets designed for player interaction.

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

F2P by EA, sure will work…

  • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

SWTOR should have been B2P from the beginning.  The Star Wars fanbase would have spend some real money purchasing all the race and cosmetic combinations possible. Leveling their characters to 50 and purchasing custom statues of their characters.  You know Larry would have spend several thousand dollars by now, if he could get statues like they make on the Figureprints web site.

Ed, you should re-look at WoW leveling from 1 to 60 (or 20 if you want to f2p).  There are so many different starting areas and storylines that fit together, you would be surprised how much has changed.  Each race has a unique starting zone and they all fill in different parts of the story of Azaroth.   It’s not until level 50 or so, that the stories really converge and put all the characters on the same basic story line.

Final Fantasy XI deleted characters after I think 3 months, they were brutal. I got rid of all my stuff so I couldn’t come back anyways.

  • Key Foster

I like the dynamic events, I like the idea of micro transactions, and i like the shut the F up approach about faster and better content.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Daniel-Scott-Blair/614675377 Daniel Scott Blair

That’s depressing, you buy the box (collectors edition or otherwise) played for 6 months and now there going to make me pick a limited number of my 8 characters (one of each class on imp and rep side)  Yea, yea, I quit and beggars can’t be choosers but it’s still a strange choice to punish those who left because there wasn’t enough content by limiting how much content they can access.  Hope this helps them generate more unique content and grow the player base because I doubt many people who already quit will come back to accounts where the legs have already been severed.

    • Shogunz

I think accounts that had a box purchase and subscription time should receive a commensurate amount of store-currency.  A box purchase (maybe just those purchased prior to the price redux) should at least equate to a full slots unlock.

  • Heather Rothsel

why does everyone always see a Subbed leveling boost for the leveling speed, why not a gated f2p debuff, so they only get 70% exp without buying a buff from the store?

Congrats to all 3 of our panelists for telling Mr.Schubert to basically STFU and deliver.I’ve personally HAD it with the “Coming Soon!!!”  BS,and not real confident in Dippy Damion’s latest claim.Hope he watches this episode.

From what I have seen, and this being EA, the “free-to-play” business model that they are implementing is pretty terrible. However that isn’t what “killed” the game and won’t be what brings people back, keeps them there and “saves” the game. That is going to be from EA removing it’s head and crafting a F2P model that actually makes sense, and allowing Bioware to develop for and around F2P systems that make sense. The biggest thing though is FUN CONTENT, and finishing and polishing the standard theme park MMORPG content that should have been there from the beginning (If EA hadn’t announced the game and pushed it out a YEAR early).

  • ChaseWaliky

No. I think the game has received such a bad rep with the MMO community and been hated on to the point that most just think it’s dead and grasping. Some people, myself included, will stay sub for a time and some will give the F2P a chance. The only thing that can save SWTOR at this point is fixing the issues, like PVP, that a lot of the community has complained about and releasing new content. I hope they can turn it around but I’m not gonna get my hopes too high.

  • jgelling

Wow, they’re still doing this show? Why?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/SAGWWSX4OZTYXPIJWCDGUPE2PM Kablamo

I love this show but it’s about time to let go, guys. SWTOR is officially dead.
