This week on the Republic, SWTOR Cartel Market additions, the Empire are winning, class changes on the PTS and more.

The SWTOR Cartel Market is getting quite a few interesting items and our hosts take a peek at them. First… Do you have need some rep and have some extra cash sitting around? GOOD! Because Bioware has a deal for you. Players who buy Contraband Packs on the SWTOR Cartel Market will receive Reputation items desired by the Contraband Resale Corp. Collecting and using these items will increase reputation with that faction only. Essentially, it appears to be a rep grind for a new faction that can only be done by paying for it.

New suits, covert energy boots and toothpicks…

Yes… You too can own all these special items available through the SWTOR Cartel Market. Items include several new outfits — some of questionable taste — a toothipck, (Yes.. A toothpick.), some covert boots — read bare feet, sweet rides and more. We think BioWare may be having a bit of a laugh at our expense. Seriously? A toothpick and bare feet? That has to be a joke.

EA’s Bad Day

And, for those of you who may have missed it,  EA had a bit of a bad day yesterday. First their CEO resigns and then we find out Origin has a pretty nasty exploit. Luckily, it was researchers that discovered the exploit and hopefully EA’s on its way to doing something about it

All that and more plus your viewer questions!

As always, we love your viewer questions — especially video ones.  If you’d like to submit a viewer question, you can send it to submit@gamebreaker.tv.  If you want to send a video question, make sure it’s about 30 seconds long and upload it to YouTube.  Then just email us the link! @Lary > EA plan for games to come >> CASH IN FROM THESE FOOLS, trust me on this one
@Gary > stop neglecting Justin or feel my wrath in the GBTV forums, will make a comic about you
    Hay @ Justin
    great show peeps

The lottery issue with Cartel market is a total disgrace. You either sell stuff in your store for fair price… or you will have ALOT of players not even touching the game when they realise systems like these.

The only thing the players can do is to try to let their voice been heard and let everyone know that these are the basic systems in SWTOR. Lottery….

Why does Gary host a show about a game he dose not play or even like? please lets try some objective journalism for once

    • InvaderMig

Because the show still gets viewers, and many people who watch the show love Gary. The haters only fuel Gary.

It’s still ridiculous. If he’s that bitter and barely playing the game anyway, then he might as well stop. It’s embarrassing.

And to think SWG got canclled and this crap game is doing what they are doing.
WTF has the gaming world come to that this kind of game is allowed to continue.

Yeah it is amazing – that a complete piece of coding and gameplay garbage was able to hang on to life for 8 years and at its peak had less subs than SWTOR at its worst. Will the gaming world never cease to amaze?

      • Darth Anonymous

I wouldn’t be too sure about that – the estimates I have read was that SW:G had around 500,000 subscribers at peak. I suspect SW:ToR is at that now.

  • theunwarshed

go figure another bounty hunter nerf following a marauder buff ;P

  • Verus

I just went back a few days ago to play again and they had deleted my characters including my max level jedi counsular. It was not that long ago I played last it was for a few days when it went free-to-play.

Could not even click send ticket since it looks like only sub players are allowed that luxuary.

  • Ravenstorm

Gary, I feel your pain. Put this show on carbonite. You should focus on games deserving of your attention, not this crap.

Time to go watch the first six episodes of The Republic again. So much promise, so much hope. When comparing something to a SWG was a drinking game.

By episode 6 it had become clear something was not right in SWTOR, how could they know how wrong it would go.

BTW, the Gem store flub, just confirms the only MMO that most of Gamebreaker plays is Guild Wars 2.

  • Revanhavoc

Oh NO I missed Tuts Ma Barreh in the pre-show?

    Curses.

I am playing SWTOR and listening to you guys right now. The game’s not so bad..But obviously disappointing. I am just in it F2P to finish the stories…Then I’m out.
Will I ever be as hyped for an MMO as I was with SWTOR? No…Never. I am quite a bit more cynical now and I question big promises. That doesn’t mean we can’t be super excited for Elder Scrolls Online!
Can’t wait to start commenting below a TESO show!

  • mcfoyle

covert boots…biowre has found a way to charge people for items that dont exist…love it

They might be able to get rid of some of their artists if they can add more invisible armor to the game. Now if they could sell this invisible armor…brilliant stuff being done in swtor.

  • http://twitter.com/tordr86 Tor-Sigurd

    Karma ! :p

  • Keigh

Im very disappointed that almost all the armor is being put into the cartel packs, I would gladly spend some cash on outfits if they were just sold as sets.

To Larry and Justin’s point about the whales funding new content, the problem with that was summarized by a poster on the official forums: “if krill for the whales is bringing in the money, pretty soon the only thing being made is krill.”

  • Tommy_NOR

i wonder when this show and the game itself will die

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kaden-Smith/100003905493006 Kaden Smith

I still like the show. I hate the game.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=714772938 Mark Ryan Strong

Can we all just agree to walk away from this game? I enjoy listening to you guys discuss things but can you guys move on to another game please?

  • http://www.facebook.com/raul.vergara.583 Raul Vergara

Tea tree minty toothpick! !! ! LOL

  • Selexin18

So SWTOR finally has it figured it out. They have no content in their game so they have started selling the ABSENSE of content in their new boots and coat.

  • rippled

I think lumping the CM reputation in with the other rep grinds is distasteful at the very least. They’ve already stated they’re moving it to a separate legacy panel in the future.

Other than that I don’t really resent people kind/dumb enough to spend a big chunk of cash on the market, paying for the electricity bill and flooding thee GTN with CM items for me to buy with in-game credits, being thrown a bone in a form of a couple new gear-sets and a “shortcut” (that actually takes longer) to getting what’s already in the packs. I won’t ever get it but then again, I won’t ever get the other rep gear either as grind is not my cup of tea.

Naked armor? Male version of the slave outfit added due to popular request a while back. Lame in my book but if they’re doing it might as well do everything, not just the torso and legs. Live and let live, whatever floats peoples boats.

Toothpick I’m deffo picking up on the GTN for my smuggler lol. Beats wearing a bucket on your head.

14:45 Larry forfeits the benefit of the doubt. He ditches his principles to ride the SWTOR hope machine. He sucks.

  • scarygary

lol, I totally forgot this game existed

  • Superchief27

Still making videos about star wars hmm. So how many people are playing star wars now?

  • Evilevi501

lol this show will never die. (well, the game will before the show does) Usually it’s one of the most commented on and viewed shows on GBTV. Everyone loves a train wreck and evidently EA, Bioware and this game just continue to make choices that are just comical at this point.

12 months after launch touting a ready check. Just..wow.

  • ITCHYisVegeta

    Did Gary say ‘shit’?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kaden-Smith/100003905493006 Kaden Smith

Gary: “This isn’t Star wars.” He’s 100% right. This is a slap in the face

  • GrindedStone

I spent around $210.00 on SWTOR. I was never able to maintain the time investment very well past the 14 day mark. I recently failed yet another attempt to grasp a long term foothold inside the game world. Nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.

The founders stopped playing, and then they came back to try again. What they found is that it hasn’t changed, an isn’t likely to change. All the while with the community itself getting worse an worse while it spirals down a dirty internet truck stop toilet.

It isn’t a well developed game for the purpose of providing gamers what it is they actually want. It’s a well developed game centered around trickery an deception in order to give the company itself what it wants, a successful product.

We don’t play games because they trick us into playing them. We play games because we like them, because they are fun. I believe that SWTOR failed because the project was attempting to be something it clearly isn’t, and never will be.

A good game stands solely on it’s merit of gameplay. With SWTOR there are so many other things tacked on top of it, that the gameplay itself becomes diluted (watered down). It feels often like generic gameplay in the PC gaming world.

There are indeed some very good things about SWTOR, but overall it seems that at best the game is fast food. It’s success depends solely on the amount of people that are tricked into SWTOR addiction. I’m personally not comfortable with that.

    Deleted & Uninstalled,

    xxGSxx
