The Republic: Exploding Balls -- The Old Republic Show

  • Hukr

    FIRST

  • Eborgann

Over 1 years episodes for a game that’s not out yet. Hopefully soon.

  • Tidonius

    Spoiler Alert:

He Falls off his chair and vomits.

    Great show as always

  • Sunrock

    40 min show… ok.

    • Mario

Honestly? Most of Europe doesn’t have bandwidth limits. Even my phone has unlimited bandwidth

      • thornz

Not trying to be negative respecting the size of the client, but 30 gigs, doesn’t sound so crazy, just the spoken dialog and hd sound alone sure will take a lot of space.

  • Sleeze

You can tell when a site is getting more popular, you get the idiots typing First!

    • MMO_Doubter

      Got to agree.

Moderators should remove these posts and suspend the account.

  • Invader Mig

That’s just the install client. The whole actual package is 38.6 gigs I believe.

  • MMO_Doubter

Warhammer had zone crashes in T4 at fortress fights. Eventually, fortresses were turned off and removed from the T4 campaign.

You have to limit capacity in ‘open’ world PvP because there is no other way to prevent every single character on the server showing up in one area.

  • Hefeteich

oh comon, im totally upset with u americans, i have better internet than u…and thats a fact, no limited bandwitch etc. and im from germany. I get that there are places in Europe where internet isnt that fast, but “green zone” has better internet connection than USA and thats fact.

but great show as always, keep up the good work, and start to see that america isnt the only country in the world. So much trolling on the official forums about “crap internet” in the EU, even if we got actually better internnet than Usa

  • Ares42

Gambling just won’t ever happen for a very simple reason. It would make the game illegal in several states/nations. There’s always the issue of non-condoned gambling though, but history tells us that without any official enforcement if it grows big enough it just becomes a major strain on the costumer support.

    • MMO_Doubter

An MMO could have gambling, as long as there is no real world value to in-game currency. I doubt any devs would be willing to tie their own hands like that, though.

      • Jon Donnis

        Yeah, SWG had lotteries.

      • Ares42

Well, the issue is that even though there isn’t a legal method of trading in-game currency for real world currency a lot of governments will still recognize the fact that in-game currency has a real-world value. It is completely possible for someone to either end up spending a lot of real money gambling in these games, or on the other hand earning money through the in-game gambling.

    • Ananda

Exactly. If Bioware has plans now or in the future to have a cash shop or other legitimate RMT in the game, they can’t also have gambling.

  • Improstor

Wow, lets not behave like “US is lightyears ahead” thinking, if there are limits for bandwidth it may apply to a few countries in EU, and large part of EU may have superior Internet connection then US cittizens. You seriously should not act as usual US guy who doesn’t know where Europe can be found on map.

    • Ares42

ye, that conversation was sorta cringe-worthy. I’m sure they know people from Europe that has limited Internet, but on the other hand what I’ve heard from people I know in the States I have better Internet opportunities than they do.

It’s just the very classic mistake of thinking of Europe as an entity, the way USA is. While we have the EU, it is far from as dominant as the US government, and it doesn’t even cover every nation in the continent. The differences between nations vary greatly, to the point where it’s sometimes even hard to say they fit into the same category.

  • Jon Donnis

Yeah, we’re not backward. 7GB bandwidth limit? Yep, possibly on the basic package but most 20GB would be their limit. But go with quality ISPs and you’re not limited like mine and I’m in the UK.

  • Sheds

Germany has totally unrestricted internet connections, so yeah… I was kinda surprised when I heard that in the uk there are quite a number of limited bandwidth isp packages. But seriously, who would actually take these when you can get a flatrate? :)

    • Sunrock

I played with some one in Germany before that had restrictions on how much he could download. He lived on campus though so might be different rules there.

  • EberKain

The single best place for TOR info!

  • CygnusS

I might be alone on this but Warhammer Online wasn’t horrible for PvP… it just grew stagnant too fast and was not balanced well enough to warrent paying for my subcription, plus the extremely long wait for patches was rediculious.

    • MMO_Doubter

Yeah, the PvP was excellent in Tier one, decent in tier two, then went to hell with balance and excessive CC in Tier three. Tier four was a disaster due to the gear and RR imbalance.

The RvR campaign at release was a complete mess with armies avoiding each other to capture unguarded keeps. Something any PvPer could have predicted would happen the way the rewards were assigned.

  • bandwithus

Guys, while large parts of europe like countryside-germany dont have access to connections faster than 1-2k, limited d/l are almost never a part of it, everyone thats not on mobile has a flatrate.

I even had a heated conversation at work few months ago how worried we are that d/l restrictions, like those in the us, will start showing up on our major isp´s here..which is a valid worry looking at how much video and other bandwith heavy services haaeexploded in the last years while the infrastructure didnt scale in the same way.

  • tubezipper

ROFL, I was waiting for Gary to start fist-pumping to the music in the intro, and as usual, I’m not disappointed.
Don’t know why, but that makes me laugh every time. Thanks man.

  • chumppi

Excuse me? Huge portions of EU is metered bandwidth? Almost none of it is.. I don’t get where you got your info from? Almost nobody in EU would have a problem downloading the client twice in a week. And besides, what do US beta weekend testers do? They download the client so they can play for 3 days. Nothing different in that.
