  • Mike D

Great show guys as always. All these conventions lately make me really want to go to one here sometime!

    • Mortal

      Oh yeah, And first :p

      • Anthony Balsamo

Thanks for picking my question! love the show guys keep up the great work!

  • Mortal

    Great show as always.

P.S. Gary, I don’t know what will happen to GBTV if you quit or something. You are the breathing life of this TV website.

  • True

It is true open pvp, its just condensed into smaller areas with more content and structure, and not focused on random ganking

As for only 1 group premades, eh it is what it is, untill they add full premade vs pre made there is no other option than to limit it to one group, casuals need to have fun to

    • http://MMOFringe.com MMO_Doubter

Casuals have no business being in group PvP to begin with.

Sorry to see Mythic’s blunders with PvP infecting SWTOR. We saw it coming.

      • TheWatcherUatu

        You’re wrong.

  • CrimsonBlood

I do love Gamebreaker TV for its awesome podcasts. But occasionally you guys make a mistake along the line of not being that well informed on a certain subject. I’m talking bout the thing with EA’s Origin. It was not about needing to have Origin to play SWTOR, like you suggested with needing Steam to play Team Fortress 2. Its about the small lines in the EULA of Origin, where they justify they can scan your entire computer, make use of that information for themshelves and other third parties.

Link to a previous article, explaining it a bit better:
    http://www.gamesradar.com/ea-backtracks-slightly-over-disturbing-data-mining-origin-eula/

Would love you guys if you rectify this in one of your next shows. If so, thank you guys very much.
And keep on the good work ^^

  • Aisor

Awesome show I hope I get selected to at least 1 beta weekend :)

  • PoIsOnMaN

I do want to see open world PVP, and hope that its more DAoC / RVRish in style, definitely want to see territorial holds all over the place on open worlds and not just Ilum, maybe limit the actual territorial stuff to just the RVR lakes on planets other than Ilum to not mess with the people questing / lvling, and I definitely want them to be persistent holds with no timer or reset, much like castles / keeps / relics of DAoC’s RVR Frontiers.

Don’t get me wrong I’m very happy and excited about Ilum, love the concept, just hope that Ilum isn’t the only planet with this Territorial RVR style open world PVP and really hope it extends to all planets (even if its only in the RVR lakes on those other planets). And I do also see how it will be harder to get DAoC / RVR style PVP “right” with only 2 factions instead of 3 like DAoC had, but I would really like to see this work out.

And I think not doing 8 man Premades at launch is not a bad thing at all, Premades rolling Pugs is seriously one of the worst things you can possibly do to the PVP in your game, Its a problem that has plagued Rift PVP since beta, and still isn’t changed / fixed, and it has also plagued many other MMOs (WoW, Warhammer, etc). Premades need to go against other Premades and Pugs vs Pugs, its the way it needs to / should be, and if they are going to take extra time to implement it the “right way” after launch I 100% agree with and respect that decision because its going to make the PVP in this game all the more better.

As for world events in SWTOR, I think Bioware would be very short sighted to not do them. I feel it would be very advantageous for them to do world events. If they do decide to do events, they need to keep them in the Star Wars universe and keep them with the Lore and not go the Blizzard route with doing real world events in game like Christmas, New Years, Halloween, etc, etc, because that really would be stupid in a Star Wars universe and not make a whole lot of sense.

    Loved the show

I’m thinking the open world pvp is going to be a combination of how Terrokar Forest and Hellfire Peninsula were in WoW, all those towers people had to fight for in Terrokar to gain that buff, it kept resetting, but if there is no timer then the people that gained the buff could potentially lose it if they go out in the world to try and take advantage of the buff they gained because they are no longer battling for it. In Hellfire there was no timer, people could battle for those little areas constantly, and if they defeated another player they received marks, it may be more like that except I hope it won’t be as boring as the hellfire one. If there is no timer then it would be great to see how a constant influx of PvPers battling it out would work.

interesting but one wonders with all these new game and new content why nothing can top DAoC for PvP?

  • Odlin

If there’s any show I look forward to the most here, it’s this one :D

  • John

Great show but this should be the intro for now on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F04Z_Cw_nfs&feature=related

    • Adam A. Brennhaugen

Cant wait to play my sith assassin tank! =)

  • UGhillie

They said my name on the internet :D DDDD
    (Alex Nutman)
4 Dallas Dickenson heads guys, epic show!

  • Nyghtsaber

The hyphen and apostrophe have long been known to be in the game. The devs announced that early this year.

No whether you can have more than one of each or a combination of the two is unknown as of yet.

    I hope you don’t see names like…

    D’a'r’t'h-V’a'd’e'r or I-will-pwn-ur-mom

I assume there will be a restriction to either 1 hyphen OR apostrophe per name.

  • chumppi

You guys could some time talk about the fairness towards EU, is BW really taking EU seriously when it is 40-50% of their subs… Everything is 1-2 months later for EU than US. Even the release is later in EU.

  • Eric. young

You guys are awesome! love GBTV!!

  • Shnoobins

The reason gamers are glad to hear that the Origin software isn’t required to play SWTOR comes straight from the EULA:

“You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you. IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION.
This and all other data provided to EA and/or collected by EA in connection with your installation and use of this Application is collected, used, stored and transmitted in accordance with EA’s Privacy Policy located at http://www.ea.com. To the extent that anything in this section conflicts with the terms of EA’s Privacy Policy, the terms of the Privacy Policy shall control.”

  • Wayland

Great Show Guys, keep up the good work!

  • Stretch

Amazon.co.uk has it listed it as 31 december and has tech spec

  • Josh

To me this is true open world PvP. True open world PvP is mostly player driven with ganking etc. This adds a more modern twist with having the players take over objectives and hold points. In theory true OWPVP can happen on any PvP server if they players drive it. This makes sure the players drive the content and not just stay in cities waiting for ques.

  • Mallace

wtf guys seriously??? fanboi every other aspect of this game even the minor crap and completely lose your memory on why Origin is bad??

Larry Everett seriously does not know this??? seriously?? Go read the EULA for Origin and see why. THIS IS BIG BROTHER. It allows EA to monitor every action you are taking online.

Wow I am shocked you guys just skipped past this. Talk about being biased on GBTv seriously.

  • MrE

Thanks for asking “MY” question (myne and everyone elses!). Good show guys as always!

  • muklblurra

you retards seriously don’t know that steam and firefox uses the exact same EULA do you?

  • Malidarc

Gary you have to do a show as Christopher Walken. That was hilarious. :)

  • Mallace

Come on there is no reason for Larry Everett or Gary Gannon to play dumb here seriously. They found the most smallest detail on a preview video, but can not read a single post in a multiple threads and some are 100 pages long.

Stop playing dumb guys this was a big deal for a reason. Feel like I was watching Fox News there for a second.

  • http://dall Frey

    Best show on the Internet!!

  • Happyday

Great show as always. But you need a female on the show to class you up.

SWTOR PvP Attention – SWTOR won’t be the “Wow Killer”, but it will be hugely successful. Assuming all of that, they have to keep their competition in mind. And Guild Wars 2 is definitely a big deal. Their PvP will be from all accounts the best MMO PvP available. And in the upcoming competition for players in the MMO space, you are going to have to have a strong PvP system or run the risk of losing the PvP player base to games with substantially better systems (such as GW2 or Firefall). By keeping at least on par with their PvP, SWTOR can ensure keeping the PvP players who actually like their game.

SWTOR E-Sports – Star Wars “lauching E-Sports” was such a weird thing to say. E-Sports is already huge with multimillion dollar tournaments existing. They even had a reality tv show last summer featuring e-sports competitors. SWTOR isn’t going to be “lauching” E-Sports.

Moving past that, any MMO that isn’t balanced specifically for PvP won’t ever be considered as a competitive e-sports. Look at WoW’s debacle into that arena. WoW has never been truly balanced for PvP and they got some serious heat for even trying to enter E-Sports like they did years ago. It didn’t go over well. While it would be awesome to see SWTOR move into E-Sports competitively, realistically MMO’s not designed specifically for this don’t transition well. It’s cynical perhaps, but I don’t think SWTOR will be initially balanced for E-Sports, nor do I think that they’re prepared for the cuts/changes to PvE that strong PvP balances would require.

Origin – The games being purchased in stores requiring Steam have been quite a few. Civ5 was one of them off the top of my head. But the issue wasn’t that “Steam” was being required. The issue was that people went to a store for a hardcopy of the game and couldn’t find one to purchase. That pissed people off.

So what really has people up in arms? It’s not what Larry said. It’s several things. A lot of people really hate Origin. The previous iteration of Origin was terrible. On top of that, there are devoted fans of Steam out there, especially in the MMO market which caters to PC gamers. Several “Steam-like” companies have come and gone. And if you didn’t already download the games your purchased those companies don’t exist anymore, so tough luck. And then also EA has already been causing issues with Steam with EA titles being pulled from Steam.

It comes down to this. People don’t want multiple game platform software providers. They just want one, such as Steam. EA has already pissed of the PC Gamer community on multiple occasions. Origin has a terrible reputation as EA botched everything they’ve previously done in that venue. And also, not to be ignored (perhaps the most important point), most people who play MMO’s don’t want to run their MMO through a 3rd party provider.

great ep, i believe the game you were thinking off that required steam in order to install and play was half life 2…

whats labour day? ( im welsh so no clue)

  • fenixz

games with hard pvp and pvp in general is aways more entertaining than pve , because not everyone can pvp .. still everyone can pve

  • jondonnis

Larry has got better but still rambles when trying to explain stuff but got use to it so it’s not so annoying. I like the way he’s developed his headphone style. Gone slowly to the pro look :) with bud headphones in ears with cable up front. Then moved cable to back so can’t see he’s wearing headphones :) next he needs to tie cable up a bit at back as can still see it. Obviously not an issue :) just would be super pro :)

Bored of waiting for SWTOR now. Roll on BF3.

  • Nik123

    Gear moding (from beta)
The way it works is lets say you get a lvl 10 light saber. What you actually get is a light saber with 4 mods that are at lvl 10. if you put in lvl 20 mods it becomes a lvl 20 light saber. so the stats are a combination of the stats from each mod.
