Sanctum is BACK!  In this first episode of our special, four-episode run Gary Gannon, Jason Winter and QuintLyn Bowers talk about their time in the Storm Legion beta.  They also discuss what’s changed since launch and what they’re looking forward to.

Oh.. And Dimensions. Lots and lots of Dimensions.

Yay! Even though I no longer play RIFT (though it will always have a place in my heart), I missed this show.

Congratulations on bring back the Sanctum.

Gamebreaker needs to create a Karaoke Bar Dimension.

       Next time… On Dimension Crashers.

Loved the episode, even with almost an hour talk, you stil couln’t talk about everything .. ^^ It really felt that all of you love the game and that is the amazing thing about it.
Keep it up.. I hope it will last more than a month! Just continue with it!

Btw.. found a grammar error(?!) “New EPSIODE” ..should be EPISODE! :P

Too bad we don’t have them broken into seasons with box sets and behind the scenes bloopers :(

I’d buy that for more than a dollar!

Makes sense, in a world of failing MMOs, that the few MMOs actually surviving deserve their own shows.

If The Secret World can last another 6 months, it’d be great to see a second episode of Soloman’s Island!

  • SaksMan

I guess the trick to get Gary to speak nice about an MMO is to sponsor them… WOW, Gamebreaker has jumped the shark….I smell payola!

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Gary does like the new MMOs, but it did have a bit of a feel like an hour long infomercial. I’m guessing they have to send copies of the shows to their sponsor, Trion Worlds.

Garry i sent an email in also. If you need a fourth for the show contact me so we can work something out.

Cool show.  In addition to Cribs: Rift you need to do a few special episodes of Buildcast: Rift.  Be a great way to get Ed and Matt back into Rift, Plus with the number of souls the builds in Rift are uber.  Personally, I think the Rift soul system is the best in the MMO sphere.

  • http://www.facebook.com/elecore1 Ed LeCore

They should make this slot a general TRION show that would include Defiance for the TV and game, and End of Nations, plenty to discuss every week.

Don’t you think QuintLyns’ voice sounds just like Abby from NCIS? That’s so awsum. And why do the girls on the shows always have bookcases with actual books in them, like with Olivia and QuintLyn? Even Pokket had her gloomy background removed to reveal her bed, which is not a bookcase but it was more interesting over Jason’s bland wall.
And before I’m lynched, I know Jason is awsum, but his wall is a disaster, although I saw a possible closet on the right. And who knew Q was a devotée of Vegeta? Very cool.Good show btw. Weird that I’m starting to be more and more interested in Rift. Atm it seems the most polished mmo, more beautifull than WoW with more original new ideas behind it, while having endgame content which is very epic. Imo Rift is one of the very few deserving to have a sub fee organism because it’s just so damn good.

I was thinkin the same thing ab0ut quintlyns voice too!! I was going to start reading too but its been hard to find time ever since the big accident. I spend most of my time at work or driving back and forth from oregon. I’m totally going to cehck out that audible thing but I dont know if it will work on my sansa clip player, Im going to try it anyway. right now i plug it in to the casset player in my car and listen to old reruns of car talk lol. ive heard the one about the truck like 500 times but it’s ok cuz i love the ending.

I can’t wait to get back into rift, this show made me remember how much i forgot tha ti loved it. I think i’m going to get the expansion on launch so i can build houses all day and invite people over lol hope they don’t get stuck in them cuz i’m not going to let them leave!!!! :D

Can’t wait for the next episode and it was fun seeing Qunitlyns on a show and not just on a hit, that was really fun hope to see her again and if you guys are playing rift I hope I run into you and you should come over to my house LOL *wink*

      • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

Oh god… I LOVE Abby (well… Pauley Perrette in general, actually. She’s a very cool and kind person.) so that’s an amazing compliment.  As for the books…. I’m so jealous of Olivia’s library, but I move around a lot so all the non-ebooks I own now are the ones on that book case.  They’re mostly cook books and art history books BTW. :p  Some gaming manuals and stuff.

Um.. On the Audible thing. I *think* it works with pretty much everything. They’ve been around a while now and everyone I know that’s used them loves them.  I’m trying them out for the first time because I’m a bit averse to listening to other people read, but I never get to sit down and read a book any more. So I guess I should get over it. XD

  • David Alcon

Since GBTV is all aboard the Storm Legion train, is there a way to purchase it that somehow gives credit to you guys? I’ve been playing Chocolate Rift for a few weeks now and loving it, and I’m looking forward to the XPAC and was going to out in a pre-order this weekend.

    • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

For some reason this made me think of a rift made of liquid chocolate with chocolate easter bunny mobs and that rewards you in chocolate coins.   Not quite as fun as the alcohol rift, but still pretty awesome.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Lol, “Chocolate Rift” does seem to be a term from a Trion Worlds live steam and forums.   Nice touch not calling it Vanilla Rift and SL.

      • David Alcon

Defeating Chocolate Rifts will earn you rep with the Order of Nestle.

  • Azuri

Good job on the first show glad to have The Sanctum back even if it’s for a short time!

  • http://www.facebook.com/marco.antelope Marco Antelope

Im so happy to see this show back! Way to go Gary and company!

I recently returned to Rift after being gone around 18 months or so, just ‘cuse Storm Legion is soooo good. What I got to see in the beta weekend just floored me, fantastic product. I could not hit the buy button on the pre-order fast enough. The new mage soul has me hooked, very very well done. Cant wait to be leveling again in SL come next Tuesday.

On a side note, it’s great to see a show where Quintlyn is on camera! I think she’s one of the best, most personable, informative reporters you have working for Gambreaker. Moar Quintlyn please!

    SANCTUM > REPUBLIC
Seriously if you can keep a SWTOR show going only because people love watching a train wreck, then you can keep a Rift show going because it is a good MMO with a promising Xpac releasing

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

There are two major challenges with a Rift show. First, Trion Worlds seems to go silent on their games for months at a time.  It’s a good game, but news seem to be a little light.

Second is the hosts. While I’m a big fan of both Q and Jason, I’m not convinced they will be playing Rift in six months.  With all the other game specific shows, I believe the hosts will be playing their respective games for years to come.

      • Ravenstorm

Didn’t Lore say he got bored of WoW and woudl stop playing it although he would keep working in Tankspot? I suspect he’s now back into WoW doing his raid thing and posting walkthroughs in Tankspot again, so that’s ok.
And not sure about MikeB either, seeing he’s a daddy now, but more profoundly, he’s too much into the new things coming out like Planetside2, all those Indie games, his efforts to keep Darnell from rampaging etc.
And they’re still on Legendary. With the gorgeous Olivia. Who’s just gorgeous.
So seeing those points of view, we should ask ourselves, or better, ask QuintLyn and Jason: how much do you guys really like Rift and the xpansion?
Fatal attraction-like? Or more like Married with children-like?

        • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Lore does seem back into Mists, with his Saturday causal raids, monk leveling with his wife, love/hate with dailies and returning warlock. (got to say locks rock it right now.)

Not convinced MikeB will be returning to WoW PvP. While he would probably enjoy Challenge Modes and Brawlers Guild, I just don’t think it’s in him to level his warrior from 85 to 90. Once, he missed the race to 90, I think it was done.

You sure can tell Olivia enjoys playing WoW, even if she refuses to play the dailies.

Guess we could look at the history of the Sanctum, most of the hosts wandered away after awhile. Doesn’t mean its a bad game, just the hosts eventually have nothing new to say.

      • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

Just so you know. XD I’ve been playing RIFT the PAST 6 months.  But yes, I can understand your concern about something like that.  I have a lot of games that catch my attention.

That said. Trion really is doing a lot of things right with this expansion and really just everything they’ve added in between.

        • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Good. It’s sometimes hard to tell with the GamebreakerTV hosts, I get  the impression that 80% of the hosts only seem to play GW2 and non-MMO games.

Trion Worlds is doing a good job with content for Rift, they just don’t seem to have the knack for staying in the “MMO news.”

          • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

Being news isn’t always a good thing. XD  Although it does make creating a show around the game easier. >.> Also… I played like an hour of GW2… during the beta.

          • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Well I will be cheering you on, if you can make a go of the show.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tonyturner66 Tony Turner

I believe a weekly show is too much for most games, with some exceptions of course. The Sanctum should have been changed to a monthly show.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=706513777 Luis A. Perez

    Yay Q on a show!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/haydenwilliams Hayden Williams

+1 vote to bring the show back permanently:D

  • http://twitter.com/MrMarcusBailey Marcus Bailey

So great to see Sanctum back.  It was my favorite show on GBTV.  A month may not be enough though.

  • John Gerry

yay! so good to see sanctum back.

  • Kagitaar

Just want to add here that WoW introduced the area/object/kill trigger quests in Cata (Vashj’ir and Uldum were full of them) and they have continued to appear in MoP.

If I wasn’t so busy I would be sorely tempted to mess around with Rift for a few days, if just to try and wrap my head around the Defiler soul. All the other souls made sense, giving the classes something they lacked/ shoring up a weakness, but do clerics need another heal/ range?

    • http://twitter.com/thedenofsin The Den of Sin

Yes, wow copied that from Rift.  As well as aoe looting, among other things

      • Kagitaar

…Except that Cata came out on Dec 7, 2010 and Rift released on March 11, 2011.

        • Hans Schieber

But…but…it was WoW who copied Rift!!!

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

My favorite feature Blizzard copied from Rift was the countdown timer for Battlegrounds.   Shortly after the release of Rift, Blizzard incorporated a large countdown timer in the middle of the screen.

Joking apart, great to see the show back!

  • Chris Martin

I went back to Rift for a while this past week after a short break from GW2. Rift seemed to be dead to me. I asked in lvl 50 chat what the most popular shard was to be on, and one anal fan boy got all upset because I asked if the shard we are on is normally this empty! Needless to say, that was enough for me; so I quit and went back to GW2, where the player’s there are more polite and social.

    • jensea

Why would you give up on trying a game based on one person in chat?

I just resubbed and from what I see on the server list, the pop is increasing on all shards. I’m really sorry I quit the game after release. There’s so much depth to Rift, it’s taking me awhile to get my head around it all. Love it.

      • Chris Martin

I must admit. I did kind of rage quit that day. I was expecting to feel the same way as I did after Rift launched. However, it just wasn’t the same after I went back. I still love the game don’t get me wrong. I still have it installed and play on my sub level 20 Defiant on and off for a bit (coz it’s free and I’m that cheap!). I just wish I could convince old friends to play it with me and explore all that the updates have added. I think I’ll pop in during their free to play period and check out my high level characters.

I loved this show and was really disappointed when they stopped doing it. Glad you guys are bringing it back hopefully for keeps this time. Also If Sanctum is back does that mean we will see Jasmine return to GBTV?? she was always on Sanctum?? I kind of miss her. :)

    • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

Jasmine’s kind busy with her own things right now. She’s currently raising and training a puppy to be a show dog.

  • Kasey Speakman

You guys are missing the point of flying mounts. The reason I want them is because at times I don’t want to be bothered by onslaughts, rifts, and other things. (E.g. I need to get to a safe place to log, or all my ports are down.) Even with only ground mounts that we have currently, I still skip these when I need to. I ignore rifts, avoid invasions, skip onslaughts, etc. When I want to do them, what’s to stop me from seeing them from the air and dropping in? Portals are not a good alternative, because they get very expensive to use. Plus, if I’m in the middle of nowhere, it might take a while to get to one, because of annoying blocking terrain and ground mounts that like to jump off cliffs to your death.
