The Sanctum 41: Pro Rifting Strategy - Rift MMORPG

Welcome to the world of Trion‘s RIFT. We’ve changed things up a bit this week on The Sanctum. Besides giving you the latest news from the world of Talara, GAMEBREAKER is looking to make you a better player. Not only do we bring in a panel of experts to tell you why they are the masters of their own mayhem, but they also stuff your brain with their personal tips and tricks for making your game better — mind blown!

To give you this expert advice, host Gary Gannon is joined by Ed “Taugrim” Park and Matt “Tamgros” Sorg. Kicking everything off, Taugrim punts us into a visual guide, showing us what to do and what not to do in the Codex PvP zone. Ed’s major advice: Don’t get tunnel vision. Then PvE master Tamgros jumps into Cadusceus Rise from patch 1.6, showing you how to make your group more effective. Besides the normal stay-away-from-the-green-stuff protip, Sorg explains the other life-saving importance of position when fighting against certain bosses.

If you want to stop being a noob in RIFT‘s PvP or PvE, then you want to watch this episode of The Sanctum!

I do like the new format, with commentary on PVP and PVE footage.  It would be nice to see it as a regular feature, but perhaps only 5 to 10 minutes, and with a specific “lesson” in mind each week.  Although I have been a regular viewer of The Sanctum, I would be disappointed if you did not continue with this new format, but still keep some of the old as well.

Glad the show didn’t get cancelled. Like the new format, PVP is a part of Rift that isn’t discussed as much on other podcasts and sites IMO.

Would it be possible to truncate the “Pro Tips” to just short segments weekly? The appeal of the Sanctum and other GBTV shows are the hosts opinions and POV on the state of the game week-to-week.

As a veteran MMO player, it did feel a little tiresome to get a 20 minute explanation on how to handle boss phases I do weekly. In big chunks like that it’s very hard to stay engaged in the conversation when it is mostly routine to at least half the player & viewer base.

Or perhaps such segments are better presented pre-recorded ala Pokket’s Guide to Talera, which is now defunct it seems.

No offense is meant. The new segments were good, true and well presented information to be sure.

Love the show, glad to see it return.

    Cheers, Gary Gannon and crew!

Make those pvp/pve segments just a bit less noobalicious and a bit shorter too. Even casuals are aware of such things after making it to lvl40 or something. Make a vid about how to do atropheus on Runic Expert. It’s a amazing how many people still dont know how to do this fight

This is a totally different show now.  Rift seems to be dying a slow death.

I’m not a huge fan of the new format. As was said below most of the appeal to the shows on GBTV are about the awesome hosts and their opinions on the week in that particular MMO’s news. It’s the only reason I watch Legendary because I have never played WoW, nor do I intend to. With that said I will still continue to watch GBTV because I love the video podcast, but I might tune out a 10+ minute monologue on how to down a specific boss or how to win in PVP. Please consider doing the How-to-Win segments on seperate video’s like Pokket’s Guides that, like was said below, seem to be nixed.

What is that runic circle appearing on the ground?  Been away from Rift for a few weeks and that animation looks brand new.
