    GREAT DUO!

  • http://profiles.google.com/lucasezeq Lucas .

Guess I’ll not be playing SWTOR. Once a paid game becomes free, that’s it for me. I guess I feel more “secure” paying every month, like it’s assured quality.

Once it becomes free, you feel obligated to spend more money on it’s cash shop.

I dunno. Personally, I seem to be just the opposite. When there’s a subscription I feel obligated to play it as much as possible that one month to get my moneys worth. When somethings free it seems more laid back as in I don’t feel like I’m wasting my money when I’m doing something else.

If SWTOR goes f2p, I’ll jump on in a heart beat. The beta weekends were a ton of fun, but school kinda got in the way of buying the game. If all I have to put down is a box price, I won’t feel bad having to quit when school starts again.

Zenimax overestimate their potential playerbase from Skyrim/TES series, only a small % of Skyrim/TES players are interested in trying out TESO, TESO barely reassemble a TES game at all.

Thus far The most enthusiastic fans of the TESO are MMO fans, especially DAOC fans because of its three faction pvp. TESO is generic, period.

People especially PC players play Skyrim for mods and the freedom of the game, a themepark MMO would not attract them.

hey now careful don’t be calling anything elder scrolls generic some elder scrolls fan might burn you at the stake for such blasphemy, I am nice so I wont burn you but I will say that I am excited and like what I have seen so far hopefully they can deliver a great game.

Rich Vogel is no loss to any game . The guys a pure Muppet. Seriously look back on the Comic-con 2011 footage or any other pre release dev team footage that he appeared in. Even Dallas Dickinson and James O where taking the piss outta him when he wasnt around to defend himself. The funniest was when he  showed up late to a stage thing in which they were interviewing Jenifer Hale  and then when he showed up he pushed his way into centre camera position and almost shoved Jenifer Hale off the stage with his back as she had to shuffle about to accomodate him. He had no stage awareness whatsoever in fact he looked really detatched from reality. Must be all the stress eh . hehe

    Whats a laytoff?

      employees getting fired

      • http://profiles.google.com/lucasezeq Lucas .

The title says “layToffs”, not “layoffs”.

        He was being ironic.

           ah, didnt see that ^^

  • WESTPORT1963

    Just bring back SWG!!

I played SWoToR from launch – the levelling experience was great at the start, but towards the endgame I discovered that what I really wanted was something like KoToR – a point where you are all powerful, have explored all the plot threads with your companions, have the best gear and then take on the last boss to conclude the game.

The problem is as an MMO you will never have all the best gear, your abilities stop improving, influencing your companions is deliberately made difficult, and the story lines are always left so more content can be added later.  My decision to stop playing was because there was a disconnect between what I expect in a Bioware game and what a game has to be to make it an MMO.

    • Revanhavoc

This is a candid and logical review of SWTOR. We are all just looking for catharsis at this point.

  • sc0tb0t

calling the elder scrolls online an “online rpg” def makes it sound like a normal rpg with some online capabilities i.e. co-op or even heavily instanced. just call it an mmo if that’s what it really is. even if they draw in unlikely customers by presenting it as an online rpg, there’s a good chance they’ll be disappointed when they find out its not what they expected.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/OABTMHSNAQ7DNEJO6T5E4VSTOI Mr.Mustacho

maybe it actually is an instanced mmo like the original guild wars

  • sc0tb0t

oh and i enjoyed this episode- old school! shoulda thrown up some really gay wallpaper for old times sake :P

  • http://twitter.com/just_izumi Izumi

Laying staff off after a project really doesn’t set a good name for them when they are looking for more employees for something in the future.

  • http://twitter.com/B00gly360 Rob

Considering an Elder Scrolls single player game lags like crazy at times I am scared to see what an MMO could do ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

I like how they said about ESMMO that they wanna address the customer service more, cause in all honesty the CS part of the MMO world is HORRIBLE! Main reason I left SWTOR was cause they treated us like morons, lied to us over and over, and all around ran the MMO like assholes. So I would like to see this aspect of the game to be looked at more and changed.

  • ChaseWaliky

In reference to Elder Scrolls, I believe the mmo/rpg community will destroy any possibility of being successful just like they have with games in the past. With games like Rift and SWTOR they aren’t as bad as the community makes them out to be, especially with Rift. The WoW fanboys hate on everything that infringes with their game. I’m already hearing WoW killer being thrown around with Elder Scrolls. People need to enjoy a game for what it is and stop comparing it to WoW. WoW has had years to get to where they are, I think it has passed it prime personally, and people should give other games the same chance. Besides most people I hear trashing another mmos can’t back up what or why they are doing it, they just do it because it’s “the popular thing to do.”

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/YSVAPKVBUPTX6YS3W2DLPOBNN4 AlokP

Anyone who says TESO is a “WoW killer” but nothing before has been is literally on drugs. This is the least WoW-killery game of all WoW-killers. This is a WoW-pacifier.

Rift is good, if you can get past the generic leveling (no matter what anyone says, having rifts in a zone is at best an avoidable nuisance, at worst a huge roadblock to leveling). The raiding is top notch, so is the variety and diversity of their build-mechanics (though of course every game can use spec-balancing).

SWTOR was just a huge flop. Great questing, except it disconnected you from everyone else. Only game I’ve ever made a private chat for myself in vent, password protected, so no one could infringe on my cutscene-watching. No end game whatsoever. Abysmal PVP.

      • ChaseWaliky

I agree with you on Rift entirely. The main reason I started playing it was for a change of pace from WoW, but it was too generic as you say.

I actually enjoyed SWTOR. I went into being a fan of KOTOR and playing as a solo RPG throughout leveling. Once I reached max level thought i was at a loss for what to do but make another character. I think SWTOR was over hyped and people went in with their expectations too high. It’s sad because i was really excited for this game, but it’s doomed from here on unless they do something drastic to save it.

can’t wait for your april fools twiorpg

Is there any way to download videos off the new player? I know there used to be an RSS feed for Legendary, or you could use VideoDownloader on Firefox to download the videos, but that doesn’t seem to work for the new player.

  • http://twitter.com/B_Amaysin Brian Mays

God this new player sucks! I can’t stream for shit anymore!

  • DoctorOverlord

    Really interesting
listening to this podcast a couple of weeks after you broadcasted and
hearing you and Mike talking about SWTOR going F2P lol

    I can understand
Mike getting aggravated about changing names just for marketing.   Welcome to Capitalism where you can
sell the same old junk as if it’s completely new as long as you have good
    marketing!l

    Gary makes a
great point about the near irrelevance of IP, the lightsaber sounds were a good
laugh.    The more the Elder Scroll devs
open their mouths the less interested I become about the game.    I’ve seen that kind of blind arrogance
before in games with popular failed IPs like Star Wars, Warhammer (Firor should be familiar with
    that game) or Conan

    The PS2 trailer was
really awesome.   Nice of Gary wanting to show it properly and adding dubstep to it :)     I hope people take up Mike’s suggestion and
    make their own PS2 trailers.
