There are already Dynamic Events at all levels that require more than five people to accomplish, also there are several dragon bosses, Such as the Shatterer, Tequatl the Sunless and Claw of Jormag, which are what people would call “raiding” events, starting at late 40′ies and up

The problem is, those things (like WvW) are essentially unorganized zerg fests. AFAIK there are no instances where it is just a Raid-sized group of guys (or gals) partied up to tackle some tough content. There’s something to be said for a 16 or 24 guildies getting together to enjoy a few hours of boss beatdowns without having to worry about a bunch of other players coming to the party without an invitation.

      • http://www.devstyle.org/ Daniel Firing

Unorganized zerg fests are not a problem, problem is with yourself.

If you don’t like the zerg stuff then don’t participate in it. the problem is that players from a certain game come over and expect the same game with better graphics.

If you’re not open to this whole self initiative thing then you can always just go back playing with pandas and have a guildleader/raidleader/addon tell you to get out of the fail.

People who participate in the main zerg are normally players that are not confident enough in their own ability, don’t have the confidence to ask a few people to help them out or just have no clue what’s going on.

        • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

and someone blames the players.  End scene.

          • http://www.devstyle.org/ Daniel Firing

            ‘Cause joining a zerg isn’t a choice.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Bergevin-Jr/1393526370 Jim Bergevin Jr

And we have a FailTroll!! Guess what, Big Guy, I don’t play WoW – never have and never will. I am a big Anet and GW fanboi, so head back to the cave and try again. Here is where one would normally insert a personal gibe against your presumptuous comment, but it pretty much speaks for itself and saves me the trouble.

Contrary to popular belief, GW2 isn’t the Messiah of the Gaming Industry. Anet made a very interesting and important choice with the direction they took GW2. However, just because it is different, doesn’t mean it is better than the traditional way.

Both styles of MMO gaming have advantages and disadvantages, and which style you prefer will depend on how you enjoy playing a game (i.e. your playstyle). WoW  and similar games appeal primarily to one playstyle, GW1 and GW2 appeal to another playstyle. Again, one is not objectively better than another. There are things in the GW games I like and there are things I do not like. Similarly, there are things I like in games that follow the traditional model, as well as things I don’t like. When you are through making completely idiotic assumptions, come back and perhaps we can have a thoughtful debate on the topic at hand.

          • http://www.devstyle.org/ Daniel Firing

I’m just sick of reading about raiding and zergs and nobody actually doing anything about it themselves. It’s like self-initiative is a disease, hence why my comment is wow related where most people get carried through the content and those people scream the loudest of all.

I never understood raiding and I’m sure I never will either, no matter what game it is. Making appointments 3 times a week with the same group of people for several hours, doing the same content for months.

It just really rubs me the wrong way. It’s like playing memory, except some people can’t remember where certain cards are. Not to mention that people who plays tanks and healers will always find themselves way more important then anybody else in the team.

All this combined makes me sick of the raiding- and zerg comments.

And yah, I stand by my point, you don’t have to participate in zergs… There is plenty of other stuff to do or set something up with a little group of friends and it it your way.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Bergevin-Jr/1393526370 Jim Bergevin Jr

You can be sick of reading about them all you want, it still doesn’t change the fact that they are an accepted and popular way of gaming that many players enjoy – you happen not to be one of them.

Your second comment above is very
poignant. First you say joining a zerg isn’t a choice – and you are right to some extent, but then in the comment above, you say that players don’t have to participate in zergs. So which is it? You either have a choice or you don’t. The problem with having the choice not to zerg, in GW2 particularly, is that in order not to participate, you have to leave content that you may want to play, but can’t because it’s being zerged, and the mechanics of it pretty much cannot prevent it. Being forced out of doing something enjoyable is not healthy gameplay.

That is one of the drawbacks to GW2 and where I think GW1 was a little more superior. GW1 didn’t have raids as such – the largest potential grouping for most PvE is 8 players, with the exception of a couple of Elite areas, but at least you could attempt to capture that raiding experience without having to worry about a massive zerg group rushing in and ruining the feeling. The unfortunate part in GW1 was that a lot of strategy outside of picking out specific builds and watching aggro was non-existent. I think some of the changes in GW2 improve upon that, and you are correct in that the skill and class systems now do not require certain players to be more important than others (i.e. your Warrior/tank and Monk/healer) as any player can now fill those rolls as needed. However, they failed to fully capitalize on the system by the rest of the design of their game – it almost seems they wanted to be as anti-WoW as possible, when not all those things that WoW (EQ really) did and perfected are inherently bad.

The larger DEs and battles look really cool and neat on the screen – a bunch of heroes all fighting a war of attrition against a massive boss, but that’s all it really is in the end. GW1 introduced me to the MMO genre and it’s one of my favorite games to this day, however, upon trying several others, I find, despite being a casual player and having limited times I can play the game in a group, raiding is one hellava good time. It’s unfortunate that GW2 is even more limited in the types of ways you can experience that raiding feeling. Some people won’t mind that at all, but many others, myself included see it as a lost opportunity to make a good game even better.

          • http://www.devstyle.org/ Daniel Firing

Like I said, zerging is a choice. That choice is totally up to the player. Even though many don’t like the zerg, they still participate in it and follow a random guy around that moves into a certain random direction first.

The comment that is confusing you, was meant as a joke… but obviously I failed because I’m here explaining it to you :

As for raiding, I’ve done it plenty  but I’ve never enjoyed it. Mainly got stuck in the position of needing to help out due to lack of numbers for the main group, which was several times each week.

I do like my PvP way more, I don’t try to follow zergs around and just play with small groups that go for specific objectives.

Again, I can understand that people want ‘raiding’ but I just can’t see it happen with the current game design.

Also I can imagine if you take a raiding group of 10, 20 or 40 from a ‘different MMO’ and you get them to do dungeons in this game, they wouldn’t succeed as well as they did in this ‘other MMO’ due to this game requiring you to actually play, the skill level is a lot higher.

Again, I think they’ve made an amazing choice with keeping the whole game on a much more casual level, it’ll be much better for a game that’s free to play.

    • BrentonB

Yeah, it’s quite funny to see people complaining about raids not being available in GW2 when there are plenty of group events, that are basically raids, spread throughout Tyria.

While these raids aren’t the traditional instanced encounters most raiders are used to, having enough people in the area completing the prerequisite events leading up to the group boss usually requires a raid sized group to finish. Once the boss activates, a raid-sized group is definitely required to defeat it.

If you don’t have enough people helping out, you’ll be there for hours corpse running while hoping the boss doesn’t prevail especially since it usually restarts the event chain, or the boss might also reset after killing everyone in the area.

Either way, there are tons of raid encounters everywhere, but people need to go out into the world to find and activate them. I’d like to see a group of 5 try to complete the “Risen High Wizard” event outside of the Arah dungeon in Orr. If you google it, you’ll find some videos of people getting destroyed by his legendary greatswords, and you’ll see how much of a raid event it truly is.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

No wouldn’t call them raids.  While the events are fun in GW2, for the most part they are zergfest.  Once the boss is activated it’s just a matter of time before the boss is dead.  Sure the boss could glitch out or reset.  But if you throw enough people at it the boss will eventually die.

I am not sure about Blade and Soul, if you want this type of MMO wait for Age of Wu Shu.

    • jayremy

It’s like the same as Tera. Not into Tera? Wait for blade and soul, now your saying Age of Wu Shu, damn I hope blade and soul is not some other Korean action combat game that will under-deliver now.

  • Hicks64

I’m not a fan of the telegraph system, I’d prefer it to be noticeable (not overly obvious) through animations or voice/grunts. At the same time I can’t write it off until I play it, could be innovative with more mobs and complex telegraph things.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Bergevin-Jr/1393526370 Jim Bergevin Jr

I think giving players as many options as possible to play a game to be the best method -  and integrate a way for players to choose the level of hand-holding that they want at any given time. With the telegraphs, allow players to get all the “tells” they want or turn them off completely (with differing levels in between). For GW2 it would be showing every DE, quest, vista, resource, etc. on the map for those who hate just wandering around, and for the hard core explorer, let them turn every “guide” off in game. That way people can play the way they enjoy the most – something that seems to be overlooked more and more in games with every release.

  • Steve Johanson

Its not like WoW where it would be hand holdig beacuse these aren’t just fire on the ground that you can see there abilities that are instant( casted, triggered etc..) that its not as simple as don’t stand in it cause you wouldn’t have been able to know where it would happen until you see it, it looks like more skill based abilities like aiming/dodging not target someone and cast

  • http://twitter.com/GrantElicious Grant Butler

Yawn Guild Wars 2……… it has it’s own show so why talk about it here?

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

It is kind of funny.  The first 10 minutes of the show can across as a long commercial for GW2, not just reviewing the game, but actually selling the game.

But, I am glad GG is enjoying an MMO.

  • Ztann

Is it just me or is Hillary really hot in this one.  I love what she did with her hair.

    • Darren Fraser-Green

      =P

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Bergevin-Jr/1393526370 Jim Bergevin Jr

She’s really hot in every one. Thank Goodness for Gaming Girlz.

    • integerx

       Really? I found it tacky.

  • http://www.facebook.com/harold.jones.9847 Harold Jones

Sorry Pocket, I think SWTOR has done far better job at trailers than Rift. Only after a very few weeks i’m back to SWTOR paying a sub over GW2.

    • Jant0n

I agree on the SWTOR trailers they were exceptionally well done. Is the second half of your statement connected to the first or are they separate statements?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/KMMYFK5MJ2APHGWIL2MEKPH3AM the_founder

im a raider… have many server first achievements and 1 WORLD FIRSTS in WoW… and im very very interested in Wildstar but this telegraph system is PATHETIC… so gimmicky. just hold our hand please and wipe my ass for me too while youre at it. i wont enjoy looting in this game. really kinda soured because i was very interested in this game. if this is extensively used… i just cant see myself playing Wildstar.

  • Rich E.

ya Wildstar just took a radically wrong turn with their combat design.

i really liked the blend of aimed attacks and traditional targeting. i also still enjoy the Trinity if its executed by a class system with interesting and flexible classes. but all that wonderful thrilling mix of possibilites gets completely negated and defused and rendered trivial by this completely moronic telegraphic mechanic. it will overshadow and tarnish all of the very awesome vibe that Wildstar was creating.

but now, in one stroke, my interest in Wildstar just completely deflated.

  • MMO_NewSkool

Wildstar is now OFFICIALLY the nub training game for Warcraft LFR raiders thats how low they just dropped  hilarious. my guild leader said tonight on vent that our guild will now require new recruits to play the Wildstar demo to prove youre atleast skilled enough to raid Hogger hahahhaha

raid progression goes Wildstar —> Hogger —> Deathwings Toenail —> ???!

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

wildstar is like wow 2.0… In pvp this red stuff on gound will be huge mess…. imagine 5v5 when everyone get red stuff from enemies, blue stuff from frendly – mess

  • http://twitter.com/EdwardvanRaak Edward van Raak

The mechanics in Arah Explorable are very much like a raid. Only with 5 people.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Bergevin-Jr/1393526370 Jim Bergevin Jr

There are many things that are “like a raid,” but it still does not replace the feeling and comradarie of the “Raid Experience.” Anet choose not to include traditional raiding in their game – only small raid-like groupings (a la GW1) or open world zerg-like fests. If you prefer traditional raiding, then GW2 has nothing to offer you in that way. There’s nothing wrong with it, and it doesn’t mean GW2 is a worse game because of it, but it means the appeal is a little less for many gamers.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

No, its not a raid.  But that’s okay, it’s very difficult hard mode 5 person party instanced content.

  • http://twitter.com/Aminorat Aminorat

The Secret World has a system that is kinda like the Telegrah one and i have to say the Nightmare Dungeons there are still the hardest content in a MMO i have seen so far besides of Kel Thas pre nerfs

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=789610275 Niklas Höglund

Having no subscription does not make GW2 a great game by default. I really don’t get the logical reasoning behind it. I play what I like and paying pocket change once per month really do not affect my decision on what game I play. If you want to save money each month there are a whole lot more effecient methods. Just stop with this stupid argument. Free does not mean good.

Eating your own poop saves you money too but I’m not going to do it because it is cheaper than buying food. Not saying that GW2 is a bad game(don’t really care either way and this applies to any game), just making a point.

Planetside 2 on the other hand. This game makes WvWvW look like a bloody joke, and it has pretty much destroyed MMORPG tab-target PvP for me. It just can’t measure up in neither scope or depth.

    • MiZTiiX

agree with everything but the last thing you mentioned  ”
Planetside 2 on the other hand. This game makes WvWvW look like a bloody joke, and it has pretty much destroyed MMORPG tab-target PvP for me. It just can’t measure up in neither scope or depth.” Why are you comparing an FPS to mmoRPG combat?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=789610275 Niklas Höglund

It isn’t so much comparing as Planetside 2 delivering on proper strategy and tactics. That’s not to say GW2 and its WvWvW lacks these traits but PS2 combat is truly epic, and has way more depth. As for comparing the two very different systems. It comes down to PvP, progression, and skill for me. As PS2 allows me to become better as I become better and it doesn’t just come down to maths and a rotations, the combat experience itself becomes way more engaging.

The throw in a squad, then a full platoon, or why stop there, an entire outfit. Nothing you will ever experience in WvWvW will ever measure up to that experience. The result is that MMORPG PvP feel pretty bland all of the sudden.

So I am not comparing the combat systems against each other on a mechanical level but rather their ability to get me engage in the game. I realise I sound kinda fanboyish here but for the first time, in a very long time, I actually feel excited when I log on. Nothing will ever beat the feeling of raiding Crushbone as a fresh newbie in EQ1 though, and we always remember our first xD.

    • jayremy

Problem is planetside 2 is a shooter not your MMORPG type game. Though I myself have been wanting a good open persistent shooter for quite a while now, after doing ME3 multiplayer I began realizing how much I like co-op vs AI experience in shooters. Your normal shooters having some 50-1 kill-to-death ratio is not reasonable but in a PvE setting it is possible to really get a persistent combat feel where you make progress without dying relentlessly.

I really require a good action-combat MMORPG style game, if it is still on the shooter side, TERA under-delivered and ruined the good name of what “action combat” meant. I would really like a game delivering great on both PvP and PvE.

  • MiZTiiX

GW2 didn’t over deliver.. how many people are stuck at lvl 80 having nothing to do?

    • Jant0n

      >”GW2 didn’t over deliver”
That’s demonstrably fallacious; it would be dependent on what you expected out of the game.

      >”how many people are stuck at lvl 80 having nothing to do?”
Neither you nor I know. All that we could do is offer anecdotal evidence and/or subjective opinions.

      • MiZTiiX

Compared to most MMO’s, GW2 didn’t keep people engaged at max level in PVE

        • Jant0n

           >”Compared to most MMO’s, GW2 didn’t keep people engaged at max level in PVE”
There is a difference between it not keeping you engaged and it not keeping everyone engaged. How exactly would you know people’s opinions on what keeps them engaged.

          • MiZTiiX

Because I’ve met many people who hit lvl 80 and quit

          • Jant0n

            >”Because I’ve met many people who hit lvl 80 and quit”
That is anecdotal evidence. You offered an absolute statement “GW2 didn’t keep people engaged at max level in PVE” while it may be true for people that you know it is not true for all people.

          • MiZTiiX

of course it’s not true for all people, not everyone has hit max level

          • Jant0n

             >”of course it’s not true for all people, not everyone has hit max level”
Your statement was “GW2 didn’t keep people engaged at max level in PVE” yet that cannot be proven with anecdotal evidence. You may have met many people that quit at max level because they didn’t find it engaging, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to all people who hit max level. The point I was trying to make is that you can’t use anecdotal evidence of a subset of players and apply it to the set of all players.

          • MiZTiiX

where is your evidence that most people do enjoy PVE at lvl 80?

          • Jant0n

            >”where is your evidence that most people do enjoy PVE at lvl 80?”
That is the texbook definition of a argument from ignorance. You are purporting something to be true because no one can prove it to be false, but that does not make your it true. Also, I never made the claim that people did. I said “The point I was trying to make is that you can’t use anecdotal evidence of a subset of players and apply it to the set of all players.”.

          • MiZTiiX

Ok so that means your arguments are from “ignorance” too?

          • Jant0n

An argument from ignorance is a type of logical fallacy. You presented the argument that you were right because there was no proof to the contrary. I presented the argument  that anecdotal evidence isn’t proof of your argument..

        • integerx

I am sure you’ve talked to everyone whose level 80, eh?

          • MiZTiiX

You don’t need to, its a fact that this game for PVE lacks content

          • Jant0n

            >”You don’t need to, its a fact that this game for PVE lacks content”
You seem to not understand the concept that just because you dislike the endgame doesn’t mean there isn’t any. Your opinions are not fact.

          • Guest

There being not much end game is not opinion it’s fact.

          • Jant0n

No, it is not a fact. At endgame you can do WvWvW, story mode dungeons, explorable dungeons, SPVP, Crafting, Map Completion, work on your legendary, Dynamic Events, Jumping Puzzles, mini games, and Playing the auction house.
It is one thing to say you dislike the activities at endgame and another thing entirely to state it is a fact that there is no endgame.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bill-Gerrettie-Jr/1287578323 Bill Gerrettie Jr

Nobody is stuck at level 80 with nothing to do. Guild Wars 2 has dynamic events, huge boss battles, dungeons with multiple paths, World v World and structured PvP, and a crafting system which, in my opinion, is better than any crafting system in any other MMO. Now, what there is to do may not be what YOU want to do, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Guild Wars 2 might not be the MMO for you, but that doesn’t mean there’s no endgame content, just none that interest you.

      • MiZTiiX

How blind can one get? MANY are stuck with nothing to do. Dynamic events are just repetitive and plane out get boring fast. I’m sick of DE’s they don’t even qualify as end game and get boring fast. Yh and how disappointing were those “huge boss battles” 500 people zerg them down with no challenge. Once you done it that’s it. At lvl 80 all people do is just farm these easy bosses, you call that fun? Multiple paths or not, its the same god damn dungeon. The paths aren’t even big enough of a difference to feel like you are doing something different. Along that it doesn’t help[ that dungeons are just zergfests again, no holy trinity make pugs less organised. Everyone is forced to go ranged to see who has aggro because of the ridiculous particle effects. WvW is actually good i will admit and this is a PVP oriented game which is why PVE sucks balls. Crafting system may be better but at it’s core its still crafting. Gather materials and make shit…I’ve always found it boring, i don’t see how GW2′s system is better. Overall the game lacks alot of end game. I know many who have hit 80 and quit, what is there to do besides farming the same easy content you’ve already done? especially as a PVE’r who does not enjoy PVP.

        • Jant0n

Before I start I think Bill put the crux of my beliefs on the issue at hand quite eloquently  “Now, what there is to do may not be what YOU want to do, and there’s
nothing wrong with that. Guild Wars 2 might not be the MMO for you, but
that doesn’t mean there’s no endgame content, just none that interest
          you.”

           >”How blind can one get?”
“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the and the blind can see” ~ Mark Twain

          >”MANY are stuck with nothing to do. Dynamic events are just repetitive and plane out get boring fast.”
I think looking at the rest of your quote provides a great deal of insight into the problem “I’m sick of DE’s they don’t even qualify as end game and get boring fast.”. You don’t like them and believe that they don’t qualify as endgame content, but that doesn’t mean it applies to everyone.

          >”Once you done it that’s it. At lvl 80 all people do is just farm these easy bosses, you call that fun?”
Fun as well as difficulty is subjective.

          >”Multiple paths or not, its the same god damn dungeon. The paths aren’t
even big enough of a difference to feel like you are doing something
different. Along that it doesn’t help[ that dungeons are just zergfests
again, no holy trinity make pugs less organised. Everyone is forced to
go ranged to see who has aggro because of the ridiculous particle
          effects.”
I have not done enough of the dungeon content to make an informed continuance of this discussion.

          >”WvW is actually good i will admit and this is a PVP oriented game which is why PVE sucks balls.”
It is a PVP oriented game if you mostly PVP, but given your attitude towards PVE I’m not surprised. PVE may not be entertaining to you, but that does not mean it automatically applies to every player.

          >”Crafting system may be better but at it’s core its still crafting.
Gather materials and make shit…I’ve always found it boring, i don’t
see how GW2′s system is better.”
You don’t like crafting and that is fine, though it does not make it boring to everyone.

          >”Overall the game lacks alot of end game.”
It lacks either what you consider endgame content or endgame content that you find enjoyable.

          • MiZTiiX

sorry i don’t read walls of text

          • Jant0n

Interesting, seeing as your post is a wall of text; at least mine is broken up.

          • MiZTiiX

Intresting that all of my replies are short sentences

          • Jant0n

15 sentences without break is a wall of text IMO.

          • MiZTiiX

Why would they need break if they are short already?

It makes it easier to read. I was making the point that it is ironic to complain about walls of text when you wrote one yourself. It would appear to me you are only trying to deflect the main points I made instead of offering a reasonable argument against them.

Lord, could you please shed us knowledge about the definition of end game?
Because so far, each path is so damn challenging and fun that even many 80s never did all AC explorer.

        • http://www.facebook.com/jancarlo.paulino Jan Carlo Paulino

“ I’m sick of DE’s they don’t even qualify as end game and get boring fast.”
Do you even play GW2? why would you only do DE’s at lvl 80?

”huge boss battles” 500 people zerg them down with no challenge”

Yes this is true, but why would you want to solo them and its not that easy, I still see people die. lol

“Along that it doesn’t help[ that dungeons are just zergfests again, no holy trinity make pugs less organised ”

Zerg fest? a lot of teams fail to finish dungeons without using a strategy with some bosses, I agree some can be zerged.

“Crafting system may be better but at it’s core its still crafting. Gather materials and make shit…I’ve always found it boring”

Well play FPS games if you dont like crafting. lol

“Overall the game lacks alot of end game”

the game just started and you know more content will be added since they will be releasing expansions? you do know thats how they will earn $, if they just released all content in one go, how elese will they make money since this game has no subscription fee.

    • integerx

So how many of those people that have ‘nothing to do’, have their legendary yet?

      • MiZTiiX

And how long will that content last?

  • MiZTiiX

Also of course GW2 will beat league. Its a new HYPED mmo. Let’s check the results in a month. LoL will top it by alot, it happens with all hyped games

Totally agree with Mike on the Tells.
I would prefer a physical tell,
one that You learn the hard way.

in wwII they learned not to attach the chin strap on the helmet.
the physical tell was some body’s head getting ripped off by a blast concussion.

Now I like not wiping in raid,
    but I love immersion more.

Part of the best part of Raiding in a Semi-RP guild
Was the pre-fight instruction/lore of what each of us
was expected to do.(and not do)

& If you are raiding with People
that actually need big red squares, well  ……

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/KMMYFK5MJ2APHGWIL2MEKPH3AM the_founder

well said Raul… best thing about Wildstar was its interesting theme and setting and its combat – with its blend of aimed and traditional targeting. i dont need to beta test this. i know, as deeply as i know i need to breathe air, that this will tarnish and ruin and trivialize the cool Wildstar vibe i so badly was looking forward to discovering.

and while i pray that Wildstar reconsiders and trashes this terrible gimmick, i doubt they will. and yes, this is a “gamebreaker” for me (see what i did there?)… i wont involve myself in this game. can you imagine what other cheesy immersion destroying, gimmicks they will have? /cry

  • jayremy

For some reason when I heard “martial arts tournament” talking about blade and soul I imagined some DBZ scene with the in game art.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/KI7Q7KTG4XGQQ2NOM7N4IMFAIM Rae

    Actually,
You can buy an alpha squad membership that grants You beta access for 40 bucks.
You can also buy things like different (better?) guns for Your aircraft with station cash.

What I want to know is how is this not pay to win.
Trying to not die is not quite the same as pvp, it’s pvnttd.

(You can of course earn station cash playing the game
………….against those that already have said guns, mind You)

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/KI7Q7KTG4XGQQ2NOM7N4IMFAIM Rae

Funny How they get all bent out of shape when people call PS2 pay to win.

“It’s not P2W, You can earn station cash for those same weapons by Playing!”

-what they don’t tell You is:

-Yeah, playing and dying rapidly against people that already went and bought the guns…
= not fun in any universe.

So, yeah…go earn station cash for an anti aircraft gun for Your mosquito…
good luck earning cash quickly by getting instantly shot down by someone that already bought them.

& it’s only going to get worse.

Eventually, the only way to play the game will be to buy as much station cash as You can,
to buy weapons or experience boosts.

-just  to survive the players that bought the AA guns, or AV guns.

& the simple fact that anyone that brings this up on their forums
      gets their post deleted immediately,
      - is answer enough for me.

      PTS = Pay to survive
      or,
      PTD= Pay to Die.

lol at over delivered.  I guess you guys can keep living in your bubble but the core gaming community are already calling it Guildenberg 2.  It might take a couple of weeks to hit you guys and the average gamer.

    • Jant0n

While I know it to be a wasted effort, based on your posting history, I will reply all the same.

      >”lol at over delivered.”
As I stated in an earlier post the game whether or not it over delivered would be dependent on what you expected out of the game. To some people it over delivered, to others it met expectations, and other people may have found it underperformed.

      >”I guess you guys can keep living in your bubble but the core gaming community are already calling it Guildenberg 2.”
Never even heard the term before you posted it here, but then again I must not be part of this “core gaming community”. Glad to hear that you have been selected to represent the “core gaming community” and voice there opinions for them (that was sarcasm just in case you missed it).

      >”It might take a couple of weeks to hit you guys and the average gamer.”
Or, as shocking as it may be to you, there may be people who genuinely like the game.

      • Ravenstorm

Oh dear Jant0n, I know you like fighting Trolls. You should get a commission for it, sounds only fair, then you can get something nice for your efforts. Me, I just went: meh, that guy.

       So rump-roasted.

    • Spammerbam

I guess it’ll take couple of weeks to hit me.. but it’s just sad how it finally took you couple months to realize that Tera is niche and a total failure.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Lazarowitz/100000420795554 Steve Lazarowitz

The core gaming community. hahahaha OMFG. The core gaming community. You mean the suckers that bought into and died with Tera? What “core” gaming community. How do you define that. That kind of platitude makes you lose a whole lot of credibility.
I happen to be a part of the core gaming community. I don’t know about yours, but my guild is growing, so fast that I had to close because we had more people than we want. Many are 80th level in our guild, and are enjoying the game immensely.

So, we’re what? Not core? Why? Because you said so.Talk about disingenuous.

      • Sharuko

Tera didn’t literally fail in 2 weeks like Guildenberg 2.  Even today Tera is not looked upon as a failure.  But already people are looking at GW2 in a worse light than Warhammer Online and SWTOR.  People are coming to realize how superior Tera and SWTOR were to GW2.

I mean right now on Twitch, Mass Effect 2 has more viewers than GW2.  The popular GW2 streamers all quit the game, even Kungen who was a massive GW2 fanboy is looking for another game.  This is the 2nd week into the game.

I personally am shocked.  I thought it would be around till December at least.  But it won’t be around past September.  You can pick the defensive stance like a lot of SWTOR fans did but the writing is on the wall. You will see the light eventually.

The game in a word is “meh” its extremely vanilla and boring. On top of that at 80 a person has nothing to do. Enjoy doing WvW an sPvP for months. The most lamest sPvP ever invented where they don’t match you up by skill but based on how much glory you have.

        • Spammerbam

“Tera didn’t literally fail in 2 weeks like Guildenberg 2.  Even today Tera is not looked upon as a failure”

LOL. Tera failed in Korea, Japan, and NA. Don’t even mention about how long it lasted. No one even talks about that game, that’s the ugly truth.

Popular streamers on Twitch.. so like, where’s the streams for Tera?

I’m level 80 right now and still have a whole list of things to complete. In Tera, you quest grind all the way to max level just to be doing what everyone is doing at level 10 in GW2.

And I guess I’ll be enjoying sPvP and be matched up based on glory rather than Armor Stats *cough* Tera *cough*.

          • Sharuko

I will say this last thing, you know a game is not good when after playing the game Kungen (a massive WoW hater) goes back to WoW. LOL!

          • Spammerbam

I love how you’re sucking up to him and setting him as an example.
What’s next, you’re gonna give him a BJ?

WoW players will always come back to WoW at some point; nothing wrong with that. Kungen didn’t quit GW2, he just didn’t quit WoW. So, what’s wrong with playing both games?

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/KI7Q7KTG4XGQQ2NOM7N4IMFAIM Rae

          -Said the enmasse employee,
          that was “only following orders”.

GW2 is the second comming of MMO.
          Really.
I can’t believe you actually are saying that.
Probably you rushed to 80 thinking end game is there?
          Really?
Doing AC explorer, for example, is so dirty fun and so hard it is worth the challenge.

Some people don’t want to be able to get stronger gear, they actually want to overcome challenges and guess what, having fun while doing it.

Puzzles, explorer mode, pvp, WvWvW… end game raiding? No need.
You have WoW for that, you have Rift for that. This is a different game.

Planetside 2 also has one major glaring flaw. The battle never ends and you never have an actual side that is victor. Why fight for hours on end and accomplish literally nothing?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=789610275 Niklas Höglund

Because it is a persistent war, not a single battle mini-game. You’re not supposed to win.

It is about outfits(guilds) versus outfits, faction vs faction, in a sandbox MMOFPS. The winner will be known by those who play. That, and it is extremely fun. It is pointless to try and describe it, BF3 feels like driving a mini after having flown a jumbo jet.

      • Cole Graham

I played PS1 for three years, sure the fighting was definitely rewarding in it’s own right. But if you played for as long as I did, you began to feel like the experience was very shallow.

Good news though, here is a quote from Smedley today concerning upcoming metagame updates:

“Please understand this game has a lot of Planetside heritage and a lot of what we’re aiming for has this in mind. Also keep in mind this will involve stuff like base benefits and what happens when people “lock down” continents.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Lazarowitz/100000420795554 Steve Lazarowitz

Lots of 80s my guild who are having a ball. Maybe you just befriend quitters with low attention spans. It’s quite possible, you know.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Lol, and with the last post you insult players.  This has become a thing with GW2 fans, if someone doesn’t like the game, you insult the player.

      • Nick Cattane

        Interesting generalization.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Lazarowitz/100000420795554 Steve Lazarowitz

If you think Guild Wars 2 comes down to math and rotation, you’re not very good at it. Guild Wars 2 has a lot to do with using the right skills at the right time. Any solid rotation is doomed to failure. It’s about weapon swapping, watching the enemy, and reaction to what’s going on around you. If you played it like other MMOs, you’ve missed out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Lazarowitz/100000420795554 Steve Lazarowitz

Because it’s an MMO and not everyone watches the Guild Wars 2 show. Some people who don’t watch the Guild Wars 2 show, might watch the MMO show to get news about MMOs. Maybe you only have time to watch one show a week. Why wouldn’t the hottest MMO out deserve space on an MMO show? Because they have another show. There’s a business news show on my news channel, but I still get business news on the regular news.

Edit: Weird I’ve been hitting reply and these posted as individual topics. Gah.

  • Revanhavoc

Planetside 2 is the most exciting game you three talked about. I can’t wait to join a nice guild like the old days of P1. And let’s be honest gamers with poor computers have been left behind consistently since the video card wars began.

Never heard of Blade and Soul but it looks beautiful and I like the combat trailer emphasis. But like Pokket don’t trust Korean games.

Why is Wildstar pretending that telegraphs are new and ignoring the fact that Secret World has them?

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.golightly Tony Golightly

Gary: “the iphone is 16:9″ math: “no, it’s not.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/ian.mccloskey.3 Ian McCloskey

Would be interesting if there were a hardmode for raids/dungeons that would turn the telegraphs off

  • DoctorOverlord

It’s interested to hear Mike B and Pokket talk about how they like how they can log onto GW2 occasionally because their time is so limited playing multiple games for their jobs.   Oddly enough, I only log into GW2 occasionally as well but that’s because I *don’t* have much free time to play games.   With such limited time, not having a sub-fee makes GW2 a perfect game for people like myself as well as gamers who do play many games.    It’s amazing how much broader GW2 has the potential to be because of the business model.

Plz no raids!  At least no instanced raids.   There are other MMOs that provide that kind of content and I would hate to see every MMO slavishly follow the same formula.  Large group coordination content could work in GW2 but it should fit with the game’s philosophy of server-wide cooperation, it might work in the open world like dynamic events but I’m not sure if you can get the complexity that raiders want.

I like the telegraphs in Wildstar and Gary has it right, it’s great to see an MMO trying something different.   This is a good sign for the whole genre that we’re seeing this sort of thing.    Excellent point about how tells could work with open world boss mobs.    That kind of situation would be perfect for those kind of tells. Maybe GW2 should look something like this mechanic.  I’m looking forward to Wildstar the more I hear about it.

I really enjoy good game cinematics as well but I have to agree with Pokket, cinematics can be a waste of resources and misleading.    Nonetheless
I still watch the Blur Star Wars cinematics every now and then.   (MMO flythrough are really lame lol)   And good of Pokket to mention WAR for not following through on promises.   Mythic became the poster-child for that.
