This video is misunderstanding a lot of the TSW stuff...

Anyway, if any of you guys have any questions about TSW stuff head over to crygaia.net ;-)
Also, the massively article isn't really telling us all that much that's new to the community at any rate.
(And it's only one of several articles that have been released lately, look at the official page for the links to several of those articles)
Oh, and some of the best articles with new info in my opinion is the stuff from http://www.zam.com
Anyway, thanks for the video, but if you think TSW sounds interesting you might want to look it up a bit more ;-)

That just it. As you said, "there are people who like the MMO genre as it stands now and there are people who don't" . While I think that your comment is overly simplistic (the implication is that Rfit falls in the "MMO as it stands now" side of the fence, which in turn suggests a static game. Rift is anything but static), I think I know what you mean so I'll not split hairs. The point is, there are people who "like the MMO genre as it stands now". People like me, in fact.

From your comments, it's perfectly fair that you left Rift. You are looking for something more lore-oriented, which requires a complete overhaul in the way a game is approached. I hope TSW, GW2, etc finally give you what you're looking for, but when those games come out, some people will be leaving those games because of unmet expectations. No single game can do everything while also doing them well. So in that sense, diversity is good. And that's what makes TWIMMO such an excellent concept. It is a show about letting people know the current state of the MMO genre. If someone was in a market for an MMO, TWIMMO would be the first thing I would have recommended to that person.
So therein lies the problem. If a person unfamiliar with Rift sees this show, they would have a totally skewed perspective of what Rift is all about. My issue isn't with people not liking Rift. I understand that. My issue is that in the segment where discuss Rift putting out a gigantic patch like 1.6, the some of the hosts comments were tantamount to "nothing to see here, just move along" without any clarification whatsoever.

For what it is worth, about a month & a half ago Rift changed the rift wrought currency. So there is more to buy and more worth buying for the ever increasing difficulty tiers. Which are proving quite the challenge...

Rift has also had lateral progression to raids, dungeons and pvp per tier of content since about 3 months into the game. The idea I think has always been to give players options of either open world rift bashing or dungeon crawling. Which is a nice option to have-- just my opinion, of course.

The latter half of Mr. Winter's post above seems to suggest confusion or burdensome work on players part in optimizing or progression their characters within the game. If one isn't particularly in-love with the stat centric gameplay Rift offers- fair enough.

However, short of making the game simplistic or highly reductive in stats & gameplay, I am not sure Trion can do anything to appease players
unwilling to figure out proper gear sets, specs or rotations.

Once a player is done with story missions in TOR the core gameplay is much the same as World of Warcraft and Rift. Where one game calls a stat techpower in place of spellpower and so on. There was little lateral progression outside of flashpoints/operations as I saw it during alpha/beta testing in TOR as well.

Take either game [TOR and Rift] for what they are I suppose. But is it fair to leverage "been there, done that" criticisms at Rift and excuse TOR which stuck more closely to the "there" and "that" of MMOs past?

Or for GBTV host(s) to take umbrage at a viewer's notion a theme park MMO would but unlike other theme park MMOs wholly?

Ok so you guys know....in TSW they only allow you 3 quests at a time because they don't want you to rush through quests, they want you to spend time on them and get into the game world and lore. When your doing a quest, there's way points, that let you save your progress so you can drop what ever quest your on and continue it where you left off at a different time. To me it doesn't seem linear at all because you can pick what ever quests you want, not just specific ones. and you can change them and come back to them when ever you want. That's just my two cents :P and, mats in cash shop is a NO NO. ): I hope they don't do that......
