I need a Mobile Point-and-Click Adventure, and I need it… Yesterday
Yesterday is a mobile point-and-click adventure game created by Pendulo Studios. It’s available for $6.99 in the iOS App Store, or for $4.99 on the Google Play Store with a free, ad-supported version available.
In Yesterday, players find themselves thrust in the midst of a dark and graphic noir-style thriller. The game begins with Henry White exploring the rubble of Cadway Station in search of one of its homeless denizens, seeking more information on the disappearance of many homeless victims around the city. However, his search quickly takes a very drastic turn for the worst…
Point-and-click adventure games have seen a rise in popularity again in the mobile gaming market, where the touchscreen interface lends itself incredibly well to the point-and-click style of gameplay. With its adult themes and pleasing aesthetics, Yesterday shows a lot of promise. But is this really the future of the mobile point-and-click adventure? Or does Yesterday just come off feeling… outdated?

ABOUT THE FIVE FINGER RATING SYSTEM:
At the end of my time with each game I will rate it on a scale of one to five fingers based on my initial experiences. This is emphatically NOT to be taken as a review score, merely a rating of my initial experiences with the game and the likelihood that I will play it again in the future.
5 fingers = This game is awesome! I will definitely play it again, even in cases where I could be playing something on my PC or console.
4 fingers = This game is awesome… for a mobile title. It may not stack up to PC or console games, but it’s definitely worth keeping on my phone for future play.
3 fingers = The game is alright. There’s nothing glaringly bad about it, but it’s not really hooking me either. I might poke at it again in the future.
2 fingers = Something about this game is just not right. I didn’t particularly enjoy my initial time with it and I am unlikely to play it again.
1 finger = F*** this game.
