I sort by newest first, so on my page you’re “LAST”

  • Old Ben

I posted this in the previous episode but the message had an attachment and never got “approved” by a moderator, so here goes again:

Instead of a big banner saying “EPISODE 3″ (without even mentioning the name of the show), why doesn’t Gamebreaker create a small logo for each show, with the episode number integrated into it, and just put it on the least important corner (in the case of GW2, top right)?

Here’s a quick mock-up based on the GW2 trait icons, where the “13” would be the episode number:

    • Jado Cast

Or it could just go over Chat in the lower left.  Good Idea tho.

  • http://twitter.com/alaskawinter923 Andrew F. Saxton

    It’s pronounced Dry Iggles :P

    • Old Ben

The character is actually called “Doctor Yiggles”, as seen on the hero panel.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

It’s from the twitch chat, dryiggles.  “Dry Iggles?”

  • http://twitter.com/dryiggles Dr. Yiggles

Glad I was able to help contribute something.  Really appreciated the input and suggestions.  I didn’t get to try out the changes as much as I had hoped during the Stress Test today, but I am definitely looking into other options and the suggestions @Tamgros:twitter  @Taugrim:twitter  mentioned from the show.

And it is prounounced Doctor Yiggles to all you guys teasing my name! :(

Great job on the show as well and the format is coming along great as you guys improve it from week to week.  I hope to see some spreadsheets and Matt’s Math on slides next week. :)

Keep it up guys the show is coming along great!

P.S. Also would be great if you guys could post the builds you each might use based off of the build that is being discussed in this shows.

    • http://twitter.com/tamgros Matthew Sorg

Yeah, we’re definitely going to start posting our versions of builds… basically trying to optimize the build for the desired playstyle of the person in the video. When I get home tonight I’ll reply again with what I would have done with your build. Your build did seem like a fun playstyle.

      • http://twitter.com/dryiggles Dr. Yiggles

Thanks Matt.  I found they changed some trait abilities some minor nerfs as well.  You can see them on guru.

I might lean towards moving away from Soul Reaping, but am still thinking of how to go about it.  I look forward to your build link later tonight.  Appreciate your help.

You guys are doing an amazing job on the show.  Keep it up! :)

    • http://twitter.com/RichieProcopio Richie Procopio

There’s another stress test coming tomorrow so you can try out some changes then!  Great submission, Dr.

      • http://twitter.com/dryiggles Dr. Yiggles

         I heard, I’m pretty excited!

        Thanks Richie. :)

Do you guys have a list of videos you are dissecting lined up? Is it worth sending in an entry still?

  • http://www.facebook.com/masongj Greg Mason

Death Shroud should be used mainly for mitigating burst damage.  eg Warrior eviscerate or warrior hundred blades does 6k damage, but Necro presses F1 and warrior wasted his adrenaline.

  • Brian Hukee

Awesome show guys, I love the pvp focus of the show, especially the detailed breakdown of the builds.  Exactly what I’ve been looking for!

  • falknerblitz

Great episode guys, huge improvements over the first episode. I really appreciate the extra effort you guys are putting into the show by going through the vids/builds ahead of time. I’ll be submitting a guardian vid soon. It’s not the greatest but rather just something I wanted to try out and as such I’m still getting used to it as I just played it for the first time today during the stress test. Also first time recording gameplay but I figure mind as well get advice right out of the gate and also looking at new/casual builds might appeal to a wider audience.

  • Jado Cast

Matt, Foot in the Grave was nerfed after BWE 1 so I don’t think stability applies to Death Shroud any longer, unless that’s changed since BWE 2.  I haven’t played sPVP with Necro since then as I’ve been working on Thief.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Robert-Caliolo/100003765889295 Robert Caliolo

I played a Conditionmancer bwe2 and enjoyed it other then the GTA it requires. I play with my mouse buttons constantly pressed and utilizing the targeting is an issue. I wish there was a better way to solve this

    • Old Ben

Even in this last stress test, fast-cast ground targeting still casts on the (invisible) mouse cursor when you’re holding the mouse button down, instead of casting in the middle of the screen.

As long as you put the mouse cursor slightly above your character’s head _before_ pressing the mouse button, though, you can use the camera to aim.

Not very practical, but I guess it’s the only solution until they fix it.

  • Jay

Knowledge is power? So should I stack knowledge or crit?? I’m so confused :(

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Robert-Caliolo/100003765889295 Robert Caliolo

Axe is for the Necro tank???

    • http://twitter.com/Master10K Master10K

No. Daggers in for a tanky Necro. Axe is for direct damage Necro. I played a Axe Necro, maxed out my Power & Crit and was killing people ridiculously fast, whilst applying weakness, so they couldn’t kill me.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Robert-Caliolo/100003765889295 Robert Caliolo

That’s what I mean, if they can not kill you, you are tanking???

        • razvan barbu

They can’t kill him because he’s killing them first, not because he’s tanking.  Weakness only reduces non crit damage by 13~25% (crits are still full damage)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Robert-Caliolo/100003765889295 Robert Caliolo

Ill ask again…what headset is Ed using here in the show, not the one he uses while playing?
    Anyone know?

    • Old Ben

      Probably a Samson SE10.

And yes, the mic I use for GAMEBREAKER is a Samson SE-10, retails for ~$100 USD

After watching this I am still not sure if this build works well

  • http://www.facebook.com/O4OUR Daniel Hurstfield

Mesmer! need some mesmer action :D

Also i’d like to see their builds for each class and how they would do each class in different ways.

  • P V

Matt: would be nice if one of the character creators implement your regen+vitality =  toughness  into their builder…

  • John Paul Tran

I would not object to a marker board. lol

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Doen’t Skype have a drawing screen build in?

      • John Paul Tran

I don’t think they’re still using skype, but I don’t follow gbtv as closely as I used to. Skype was very problematic.

  • Depravity

You know what you should do and would be a hit (or how Gary fancies calling it, “gold”) beyond any reason of doubt? Do a special Buildcast episode with a comprehensive presentation and elucidation (in the already proven talkshow format) of the main combat mechanics, attributes, trait system, combo and finisher system, boons and conditions and how all of these interact (especially regarding what is known so far as far as primary, secondary and profession attribute interactions are concerned).

That’d be awesome, gorgeous, have a shitload of views for months to come and… well, make newbie players just starting with the game with no knowledge of all the aforementioned shit extremely happy. Yeah!

  • Valentijn van Achte

WHY oh WHY does every1 forget you got 7 rune slots on armer!!!!!!!!!! There is also a slot on the respirator ( for underwater combat )
you can do 3 / 4 rune set

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1073811026 Ju Li An

Better to go 2/5 as the 5th bonus is better than 3rd usually. But people mostly ignore UW combat.

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

still beta… I asume most things will change in live, so there will be time to build stuff.

  • Dixhallpike

Thank you for an another awesome show. Looking forward for more from Build cast wich is the most informative GW2 show out there. I’ve said it before the casting couldn’t be better. I’ve been following these two in other games and I have yet to see two people who can explain complex mechanics like them.

Would love to see examples of build from @tamgros:twitter and @taugrim:twitter  also different synergy examples in a 5 man sPvP group. Examples like roaming thieves, support engineers, base holder guardians etc. with there strength and weakneses. Maybe unorthodox builds made viable.

I would also like to see in a future basic and andvance strategies for WvW,  Builds in WvW for different classes in certain roles like the back line elementalist, front line warrior etc.

One small tip wich would might help is to create the builds you are reviewing in a GW2 calculator as a link, so the audience has it infront of them during the show. http://gw2skills.net/editor/ is a great example where you can add traits, weapons, runes to armor and accessories.

This show has endless possibilites and Im really excited to see how it will develop. Keep up the good work and thanks for making a great show.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Kiba12 Brendan Moffitt

Hmm Ep2 on the graphic hey :P

  • http://www.facebook.com/adzaell Adam Elliott

I hope in future Buildcasts, that you will also look at PVE builds at max level. Obviously you can’t do that too much now, as no-one can get to that level yet. But as of launch and once max level PVE builds come to the fore, i would love to see your takes on damage/support/control builds for some of the classes.

    • Old Ben

      > no-one can get to that level yet

They can and I believe they have (at the end of BWE2). There was no level cap during the betas. You could only go to level 35 areas, but you could keep gaining experience.

      • falknerblitz

Did someone actually get to 80? I know there were people who made it into the 60s but haven’t seen any convincing sources of any maxed level (high I’ve seen in lvl66)

        • Old Ben

I didn’t meet any level 80s personally (I think I saw a 64 or so), but I read that some people had, and it seems perfectly possible, given the fact that over the first two BWEs they had over 100 hours to play. I bet some people just took turns leveling the same character, because that’s the kind of thing some people do.

    Hi there guys!

    I’m a couple days
late on my feedback, but I’m watching it again after the Friday Stress Test. It
was fun to see Scott on. For those wondering about the Gamebreaker.TV community
guild, go over to the Forums and find the link for Triple B. As far as I know
    we’re still recruiting. ;-)

Ed you did a great job on this episode. Can see we’re really getting that brain
of yours working here. I got you with that whiteboard comment (@24:04). xD

Matt, awesome job with the supplemental material. My ranger revolved
around a primary toughness and healing build and it was hard as hell to kill me; plus my
pet could wreck people (use their ability people!). I went precision as third.
Had no issues killing people and staying alive as well as my pet. Really
believe that toughness and vitality balance is vital. Great job Matt and really
enjoy listening to your input on the show.

Gary, great job moving the show along and keeping it on target bro! Hopefully
this alien comes through in comments! ┌∩┐(◥▶_◀◤)┌∩┐

Build slides a must. Thanks guys!

To simplify the debate on Toughness vs Vitality…here is how I look at it.

Go max Toughness if you are fighting “Straight Damage Dealers” i.e. Melee Warriors, Elementalist Nukers etc. and if you have abilities to remove Conditions.

Go max Vitality if you are fighting “Condition Builds”, Condition ignores armor and defense so you need the Health Pool to be large enough to soak up the Damage Over Time that these Conditions do.

You have to pick your poison, you can’t have both due to the 70 trait cap.

Personally as a Condition build I go all for toughness so I can outlive these nasty warriors and melee thief…

If you want a Tank build to defense base camps then go max Toughness and Vitality but be aware that your damage will be minimal.

Like I stated earlier, you have to choose your poison to die in this game, you can’t have it all. It’s the paper, scissor, rock mechanic.

    Good luck!

    • http://twitter.com/tamgros Matthew Sorg

You can say “go straight ___ if you are fighting ____” but almost any team, especially a semi-organized one, will have a mix of damage types. What I tried to do in my calculation is to show that ratios of different types of damage matter when choosing the ratio of toughness and vitality.

One of the main simple takeaways from what I’ve stated/calculated is that increases in one of Toughness or Vitality then increases the effectiveness of the other. This is why I talk about finding a good ratio of Toughness and Vitality. I would highly recommend not stacking for general sPvP play.

the big banner at the bottom is annoying. it shouldn’t be on all the time it just block additional useful information.

idd, change it to a small block with the logo over the chat, blocks off the (private) chat and it’s not anoying

I was under the impression that might also improves condition damage, per the Wiki Talk. I went 10/30/0/0/30 (scepter-dagger/staff) and grabbed Reaper’s Might in Spite. Used Superior Runes of Lyssa, a Rampager’s Amulet, Superior Sigils of Earth, Battle, and Intelligence (OK maybe the last was overkill). Crit to 70%, Condition Damage to 944. I didn’t sense any condition mitigation due to increased power and attack. Who and when had indicated it was an issue with might and condition damage?

    • http://twitter.com/tamgros Matthew Sorg

Sorry, that was me misinterpreting the change with others on some forums. Might now gives a flat 35 to Power and Condition dmg.
